A couple of notes here:
- It's nice they offer it because the people with spare tire anxiety would be upset if they didn't
- I'll probably pick it up, I do like the way it deflates for storage on our R1S, it's pretty trick
- It does take up storage in the well, but if you remove the tray on top (in our R1S) there is still a lot of storage for first aid kit, straps, tow rope, jumpstarter pack etc
- We have jumpstarter packs in all our vehicles now if not for our vehicles, for people that need help we run into, in case we need to charge a phone, etc. So many of those can now be purchased with built in inflators that we will just get one of those I think
- Although we will probably have the spare, the new sealant kits on the market these days do a great job of getting you out of situations. They are not the fix a flat of old times.
- Nobody in my family is allowed to change a tire. They know how, but it is too dangerous. Cars are heavy, wheels are heavy, being on the side of a road and no belted into the car is so risky. The numbers of injuries and death each year is not worth it, let a tow truck driver change it or fix it from behind a multi-ton truck protecting the position on the side of the road
- If your offroading, you should be getting a full size spare with hitch mount anyway and I'm not interested in sacrificing money, space on the vehicle for hauling that around internally when probably only used 1% of the time for 95% of the owners
