Compared to the R2, what makes the Scout a compelling alternative?

Also more cost and weight, of course, but I hear you.
The upcoming 2027 BMW iX with it's 400 mile range gets a lot of press, and they talk about efficiency, but with a 112 kWh battery, it's almost the same miles/kWh as the R2.

The Scout promises to be more off-road capable than the R2, which for some, is important. I was involved in reviewing and giving feedback on the Scout UI, the off-road specific cameras, and off road ADAS. It's impressive. And yes, you read that right, off road ADAS. Things like measuring rocks and showing what will clear or hit, and where. They plan to have a magnetic, battery-powered camera that you can stick almost anywhere and see it on the main display, to help with obstacles.

Before the Rivian I had a Gladiator, and two Wranglers before that. I miss the extreme off road abilities the Jeeps had. But I refuse to own ICE or hybrids.

I am not sure why I would add the maintenance of an ice system. Oil, belts, hoses, coolant are all time based service intervals even if you never use them. Seems like the worst of both worlds for most users
