I was scheduled to take R1s into local service shop in San Jose. When they called me, the service rep commented there was a flag and I qualified for concierge service. He hadn’t heard of this either, called the service center, apparently they will come get our r1s and take it somewhere and do the work (they are doing the bolt tightening of suspension and it can’t be done via mobile service).

If they think it’s longer than a few hours they will bring me a loner to use until they complete and return mine to me.

they also commented that it was a trial service so some of the booking aspects had a little bit of a work around.
Anyone else encounter this yet?. It’s interesting to think about how they might use this type of model to service in a more distributed fashion to complement a mobile fleet without a full service center visit.
Anyways, sure beats having to drive it in! I will report back after next Thursday’s experience.

Seems like they may be establishing a relationship with some local shop(s) to use their facilities to perform SC-style work in a mobile fashion. Seems like a clever way to expand service capability beyond simple mobile jobs without an additional service center. Good to see they are getting creative to improve the service experience. Sounds good to me.

It would make sense if they expanded the VW relationship to include service at VW dealerships.

Oh god don’t say that. That’s a trigger word for some users here. According to their “professional opinion” this is the dumbest, most remote of possibilities in existence.

Maybe that’s why they are picking up the car from me. So I don’t have to see😂

Why is that dumb? Rivian’s current SC model is straining to keep up. Partnering for some work makes good sense, especially since VW service centers are closer to most folks.

Listen, I agree with you on that. I even suggested the possibility. I was quickly corrected by users who “have 20 plus years experience in that particular field”

I used that service in Mountain View service center. The driver was driving my r1s around in sport lowest height. Driving 87mph on highway. Was rolling down my windows when getting close to my house. I could see all this activity because vehicle was no longer in service mode and I had phone app open and I have Rivian home assistant integration. I am guessing the driver was smoking something and rolling windows down and spraying tons of cologne. My r1s reeked of cologne for 2 weeks I had to drive with windows open.
