I am still on the fence about connect plus. Waiting to check out chrome cast first and note eager to pay for subscriptions for the subscription. That said Siri still does everything I need.
I finally got to see what I do not have without Connect+. Satellite imagery is gone (big whoop). So is live cam a la Tesla Sentry mode gone, too. Not feeling the love in me about shelling out $150 a year for those two things that I do not necessarily need. As for the other big deal made about Connect+ streaming the whatever-the-name of those apps is, I could not care less about either of them if I tried, not part of my life ever. So, about ready to jump down to the no-thanks side of the fence. If I want clean, ultra low distortion, faithful ultra low bass reproduction without the Rivian awful boominess, unbelievable sound, I retrieve to my video/sound room and chill.

And going from your home wifi to your phone hotspot is a bit clugy, and on iOS devices you have to enable the hotspot every single time. Still not sure I'm willing to give them $100 a year...
Get the shortcuts app and create an automation to turn it on and off when your phone connects to your car

Dude, I like the way you roll!! :)

People seem to be afraid to say they don't care about the "perks" of C+ so they don't see the need to purchase it. If tethering the vehicle to your phone is sufficient, then by all means feel free to vote with your wallet and just say no.

FWIW, my new 2024 Jeep also has some sort of connectivity trial which ends shortly. I have zero interest in paying for connectivity once the trial period ends. It has wireless CP/AA and I always have my phone with me when I drive anyway, so no benefits for me to pay to have the vehicle "connected" as well. I'm also voting with my wallet.

Just curious, what do you get with the Jeep connectivity plan? How much is it?

Just hit cancel myself after getting into what it really offered. Not worth the money.

Rivian R1S 2024
Sort of off topic, but does Spotify streaming in the Spotify app work without Connect+? my trial runs out next week and have only had my R1T with the trial active.
I ran across a good idea posted in another thread...just use your phone hotspot. Thankfully, Rivian does allow the vehicles to connect to your hotspot to data power the built-in media apps (Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, etc.), and Alexa.

***whoops, someone already mentioned this. But yeah, works good for me. I have a Siri shortcut to turn on my hotspot. One I get far enough away from my home, my R1S connects to the hotspot manually. Alternatively, if I am still in my driveway and connected to my home wifi, I just tap to select the hotspot so I don't get interruption once I'm out of range of home wifi.

I do like the idea of being able to live check on my vehicle with Gear Guard Motion Cam, and satellite view of Google Maps is nice, just not sure I want to spend the money for just these two things. However, my Spectrum Mobile Hotspot is limited to 5GB per month until it slows, so might end up being something to consider as well. I think this cost - at least as of now - is more justifiable for Gen 2 vehicles that get a bit more out of it than Gen 1.

HUH, I didn't realize you could do things like that, cool I set that up, will see if that makes things better. Thanks for the suggestion.

You don't get much and they charge way too much for what you do get... there are 5 Uconnect plans. The are alacarte for some services, or you can combine the "Assistance" and "navigation" packages for $25/month and if you want to use the built-in vehicle hotspot for your passengers, add another $10/month.
The crazy Jeep services pricing makes C+ look like a steal IMO. The Jeep's saving grace is you don't need any of those connected services because Jeep has native wireless CP/AA which has been flawless for me so far.

At least CarPlay is free. When I had my x7 BMW began charging for it. I believe they walked it back though.

^ yes they did walk that back. Our i3 is pre-AA/CP so we pay the $120/year for connectivity on that vehicle mostly for real-time traffic on the built in nav. FWIW- if anyone thinks the Rivian nav is poor, our i3 says "hold my beer son" :(

I’m waiting to sign up as well, but one thing I did notice is that my Bluetooth connection stopped working for Apple Music. It shows the phone is connected and music is showing progress but no sound. When I do a display reset, the music comes back, then again the next day, same thing. Everything was fine until the trial ran out. Also, on the trial, I was only ever able to see live cameras was when I was parked at home and on wifi.

I know many of you don’t see the value of Connect+ and this is warranted. I drove my wife’s Tesla today which use to be mine and recall signing up for Tesla’s connectivity plan. To be honest I was on the fence then too. While waiting for my wife, I scrolled through Tesla’s apps and it really has expanded a lot. I took a screenshot for those who are not familiar.

This is just the initial screen. Many of them have additional options within. Theater has Netflix, Hulu, Tiktok, YouTube and others. Toolbox has games. Overtime Tesla released these apps. Rivian will get here too, I hope. ?
