Hi.

I just got done having a massive temper tantrum in my garage and in my rage, I figured out how to get your crossbar flaps to close. If your bars won't click in all the way, that's a different problem. This is for when it's secure, but rattling around and the flap is sticking out in an annoying way reminding you that IT'S JUT NOT QUITE PERFECT.

Anyway, press the flap closed and hold it. While holding the flap shut, pound the top of the crossbar over the mount point with your other hand . That's it. Now it's fully closed.

Hopefully this trick works for someone else, too.

I’ll have to try your technique the next time it happens. Mine still don’t fully close occasionally. They are better now after I’ve had service adjust them.

I found that if I try to close the flap while lifting, they latch easier. Guess they are all a little different.

Do you remember if this was covered under warranty or were you charged? I was quoted $400 today to have it fixed if it was out of warranty. Not sure how to figure out if it’s in warranty or not. Thanks!

Did not pay anything. They (SC) just took care of it and I assumed it was a warranty item.

yeah, to get mine to latch I just press down on the top of the bar over where the latch is, then when I go to close the flap, it'll snap into place. If I don't put pressure down on the crossbar, no closed flap

There's two adjustment screws in the crossbar. Right side adjusts the position of the latch, and the left side adjusts how much "catch" the flap has. I've had to adjust mine when moving the bars between vehicles but it seems like there's still a limit to how tight they can be adjusted. Too much adjustment against the vehicle means the latch won't be able to get the second click anymore. Could just be that my truck side is getting worn down too much.
