Own a 2021 Tesla model S which we will be keeping as our cross country driving car (summers in Vermont and winters in southern Utah). R1T will hopefully replace our VW Touareg TDI as our Utah camping/adventuring vehicle.

As a Tesla owner I am really only concerned about the buildout of Rivian’s adventure network in our area. The electrify CCS charging along freeways are fine but we are hoping to explore the back country for camping so more remote charging locations is important. I guess it is also important that they spin up mobile service.

2020 Model 3 performance here. We’ll keep it and add an R1S. It’s really the only 7-seat option within a reasonable price range. Initially, my wife thought my Tesla was dumb with all its tech and charging. Then, after living with it, she thinks anything that isn’t electric and doesn’t have all the features and conveniences is dumb. They really are a step change —like going from flip phone to smart phone (for those of us who remember).
We’re eager to be an all electric family! We just need Rivian to ramp !

I bought it from the dealers incoming inventory. The dealer notified me that he had (7) coming in 4 days ago. Mine came in today and completed DPI. I purchased a GT-Line AWD.

My contract price is MSRP and I am hoping they follow through on that.

I bought it site unseen. Dealer said that if I did not like it he would refund my deposit. We will see how it goes tomorrow.
Keep us posted! Wife ad i are going to look at one today. Have had an MME on order since Sept and no end in sight for the wait.

Have Model 3, wife's commuter, and add R1S when delivered.

Not "either or" kind of equation for us.

Will consider Tesla Roadster, when available (and other EV sports cars e.g., Lotus 135, Mission R 718, and so on at that time).

I also own a 2013 MS and have a reservation on an R1T. I will be selling my Subaru Baja when I get it. I do woodworking for fun and have rentals, so I need a pickup of some sort and even though the Baja is small, it meets most of my needs.
My original plan was to keep my Tesla, but I am now leaning towards selling it. I had to replace the drivetrain (~$8K) after 35K miles and 8 1/2 years. Tesla says a seal failed and leaked all the lubricant, but I've never seen even a drop of oil. Now I have an occasional battery error (just a shunt resistor) that Tesla wants $22K to swap out the entire battery pack! The TPMS system has an intermittent error, the touchscreen has a bubble that keeps growing. As you say, Tesla service is horrible and incredibly expensive. It's really tarnishing my experience. For the first 8 years, I LOVED owning this car. The last year is getting close to overwhelming all those great experiences with bad memories. I expect that more issues will just keep popping up.
I am completely confident that the Rivian will meet my needs really well, if it works as advertised. But I do have concerns about it being the first product from a brand new car company. I got lucky with Tesla, the car didn't need much service for the first 8 years (when the warranty expired!) and the times it did, the mobile rangers were awesome. Rivian has the same model - which worked well UNTIL Tesla had a large number of vehicles on the road - then it broke. What will happen with Rivian?
The charging network isn't a concern for me. I charge at home 99% of the time. And I expect that for the few road trips I take the network should be fine. But this really is YMMV situation. If you take (or plan to) lots of long distance trips then maybe an EV isn't the ideal choice for you. But as you own a Tesla now, you should know how often you need to charge. Yes, Superchargers are faster, but I think the total number of non-Tesla chargers are actually greater. So I would say if your Tesla is fine, the Rivian will be. The other issue is that if you can't live with the non-Tesla charging network, then you are stuck going with Tesla for the foreseeable future. Elon has SAID he will open up the network to non-Tesla users, but he says lots of things that don't happen.
If you're not in a hurry, there are some very compelling options out there for you. I have a reservation I don't expect to use on a Lightning. That has some real benefits over the R1T IMO, but I want the smaller R1T and 4 motors. But it's tempting - love the frunk and 9.6KW! And the Silverado is even more interesting to me (if the 400mi battery is real), but it's too expensive and too far out there for me. And there will be more choices in just a couple of years. If your time frame is flexible, you will have some really great options for EV trucks in the next couple of years!

I've got a leased 2020 (Raven) Model X LR w/ FSD with free lifetime supercharging that is ending in Dec. We're torn on what to do with it, half of me wants to sell when the R1T comes in the other half want to sell the wife's Santa Fe Sport (2017) and just have EVs, either way we're going to buy out the lease since the used car market is stupid right now. The problem is we'd have two car payments then and I'm not really keen on having that.
If the refreshed Model X didn't have that stupid yoke I'd be hard pressed to not get a Model X Plaid.

We also have a R1S reserved so what ever we keep will only be short term currently.

Total 1st world problems and just happy we're in a position to have these "problems".

Edit: I really do love my Tesla, the charging connector is LIGHTYEARS better than the CCS or J1772. Not to mention I have never been worried about "not making it" to a charger. Hard to leave such a great infrastructure / integration.

The Kia EV6s are arriving. I am set to pick mine up tomorrow.
I'd really love to hear your thoughts on it! Seems like a really solid offering.

Currently leasing a Model Y (ending 02/2024) with a pre-order for R1S. Hoping 2024 is the lucky year.

Have a Model X and 3 in the household but the R1T will be replacing the Lexus GX 460. With that said, we likely will not have three EVs at the same time and my guess is that the 3 will be on the chopping block. It’s the one we drive the least, it’s only RWD in Wisconsin winters, and it’s generally just too small for our needs.

I've had a Model 3 since 2018. Plan to add an R1S. I need the extra room on occasion, but still want to use my Model 3 as my daily commuter. I do a lot of driving (82,000 miles currently). R1S will be much better for sports on the weekends and road trips in the summer. My main worry is not having access to the Supercharger network. It has been a flawless experience for me. I don't trust EA will work out as well. I am hoping they've opened up the Tesla network by the time I take delivery in 1H2023.

We bought an EV6 GT-Line today. It is a blast to drive and looks great inside and out. So many features. Fit and finish is great. Very quick, quiet and solid

We may have bought the first EV6 in Idaho. Paid MSRP.

For the foreseeable future I think we will be looking for excuses to drive somewhere.

Model 3/Rivian R1S
Model 3 owner and we have an R1S on order as our 2nd EV. Only thing that worries me a bit is the charging network since EA isn't known to be the best. That said, 95% of our charging will be at home anyway since we don't road trip that often.

Also, once the RAN is actually up and at least decently robust down the west coast, I think it'll really ease charging concerns for me (live in CA). We want the "max pack" R1S, which isn't even out yet, so I think by the time we actually get it in 2024, probably, the RAN should be up and running.

I would say if you're thinking about getting a Rivian, go for it. Might as well put in that fully refundable $1k deposit now, and then figure it out later once your delivery date gets closer. You can follow the company like the rest of us for the next year and see if it still looks good to you. If not, cancel the order, no harm, no foul.

2014 Model S - Ditching it when the Rivian comes in. The 8 year extended warranty is up in September which is also the end of my (current) Rivian delivery window.

I 'm not anti-Tesla but I don't think I'll ever buy another one. Certainly not an S. The yoke steering wheel is a non-starter. My parents have an X and I hate those rear doors so much I'd never buy one. The Cyber truck is not a real product and even if it were, you'd have to pay me to drive around in that thing. The Model Y is really their best product, but now there is competition with from BMW, KIA and Ford.

I suggest you go east or west on I-84.

Or east or west on I-90.

Anything else and you're not going very far (the lack or north south infrastructure in Idaho is turning into a pet peeve of mine).
