You can try making a cut in the bed mat to accommodate the spare tire storage lid.

I really haven't the slightest clue. It's just made of recycled rubber and to me smells no different or stronger than the tires on your car. Not to be flippant about it but if someone can tolerate tires...this is no different. Smell can be different to every person I suppose but it's a $149 product so...... It's a pretty popular bedliner company, can find their product in Northern Tool & such, maybe check their website and see if it is addresses any smell issues.

That sounds good. I had thought it would be very overpowering based off the previous comment, but i keep my truck outside and i don't notice any smell from the tires so i should be fine. Thanks for that perspective.

Just found this in companys FAQ:

"Recycled rubber is safe based on many published reports, including dozens of peer-reviewed scientific studies and a comprehensive 2019 study conducted by the US-EPA. These reports all agree that recycled tire crumb rubber is safe and poses no significant health, air quality or environmental risks. The rubber smell will dissipate with ventilation and time."

Thanks for that. I was more worried that my wife would raise a fuss over the smell, but it sounds like it would not be a problem.

Could always try Elmer’s spray on glue.
unless you don’t want it permanently on there.
A few of those sticky velcros may hold it there if there’s a tonneau cover but I wouldnt trust em if open lol.

^Perfect fit. The only wierd thing for my small brain is that the bed is wider than it is long.

Yeah, it's odd.

So many people have wanted the carpet bedliner. Think what you did here is good info/example and deserves it's own separate post. Imo. Feel feel to recycle the dimensions link and pic I posted if you so desire.

I doubt it's a real concern given how over-engineered the R1s are, but I'd personally not want to spend 110lbs of my pretty minimal payload capacity just for a mat. By the time you add in people and supplies for an overlanding trip, every pound matters.

In another thread I saw someone went to Home Depot and got a 4x6 doormat that seemed to fit perfectly between the wheel wells. It didn't provide full coverage like what you've done, but was likely significantly lighter as well. I think I'd personally lean that way for an 'always in the bed' solution. If I wanted to swap it in and out regularly, I'd probably do something like what you've done here.

Again, just concerned with how much payload that eats up for a mat ?
