Well, let's hope for those of us on here that have cybertruck reservations (disclaimer: I am not one of them but I am long on TSLA stock) that these are pre-production and the panel gaps on delivered trucks are much better than this.

I will say my post from last year on this topic is aging well...

I love that he is advertising that the cybertruck can float, yet his cars have panel gaps wide enough to stick your hand in.

Yeah... Trusting a guy who doesn't know how to fix panel gaps with making something watertight is a great idea. Can't wait for the dumdums to sink their Cyberyuck ™ in the inevitably very bad decision of taking that monstrosity into a lake because Elon said they could....

What does this have to do with rivian? I have plenty of panel misalignment on my rivian. What’s the fascinations with this. I never even looked for these things on any car before.

That is bad! WTH is with the finish on that truck? Did it just come from off roading or does it just look like that after being handled? It looks like the outside of my refrigerator after the Super Bowl.

To be fair to Tesla, I wouldn’t judge panel gaps on prototypes/test vehicles, only on customer deliveries. Also, to be fair to Tesla, they don’t have a good reputation on panel gaps of their other vehicles for customer deliveries.

Maybe they should have Lego make their panels

Appears to have survived reentry or the driver dips

I think its relevant for Rivian owners to see that it's not just Rivians with panel gaps.

I wonder if the stainless without any protective coating like clear coat, wax, etc will just attract oils, dust, fingerprints, and other dirt much more easily. I hate keeping our stainless steel appliances clean. They show any type of finger print or dirt real easily.

I'll be curious if typical automotive coating like ceramic coat or some time of wax will help.

Yeah, I wonder the same thing. Moosetags was a DeLorean owner for a long time and said maintaining the exterior finish was a pain. I'm sure Elon was not factoring that into his decisions. And it's not like the SS he chose is some magic formula. I don't see how they avoid the same issues.

Former De Lorean owner here. Stainless Steel in a brushed finish means you have to keep stainless steel polish on hand at all times. You learn to not touch the car anywhere visible. Your guests / passengers / lookie-lou etc. will touch it, constantly, in the most obvious areas.

Unless they have done something different on the CT, you cannot wax the stainless, and I'd imagine it'd be very hard to try a coating. Spray polish will generally attract dust as it's a little oily, so it's better to just keep it clean and avoid the polish,.

I think Elon is going to have to settle for panel gaps that are as tall as a Lego brick.

I can already see the huge crew behind stage with stainless polisher and cloths working overtime at the delivery event.
