Took my R1T in for service today. It hasn't gotten a lot of use in the last... probably year or so, honestly. Remote access was acting wonky, not working at all, but I just ignored it since I had the physical key (because of taking it into service).
After service and after a few stops, I got a weird notification on my phone. Opening the Rivian app showed me this. I still had the keyfob, so I'm not sure if I would have gotten locked out without it. This process didn't really work cleanly. The vehicle wanted me to set-up my phone as a key, but that said it failed and seemed to work anyway. I'm guessing Rivian hasn't had much reason or incentive to make this process (whatever it is) work properly.
Just another reason to always carry a physical keycard or fob with you as a backup method I guess.
