Late 2021 Preorder who just completed the First Mile on Friday. Today I received the following emails. Coincidence? I finished the 8 steps and scheduled for delivery using the online tool.

1. Your configuration is ready to confirm.
2. Prepare for the digital purchase process.
3. It's time to begin the purchase process.
4. Completed 8 steps, scheduled delivery for Friday, and received "Your Rivian delivery is confirmed" email.

During delivery selection there were three options: Contactless delivery, Guided delivery, and another option for something that looked like a 3rd party transport delivery.

For both contactless delivery and guided delivery there was only a single date/time for Friday available. I have two addresses in my profile, one 20 miles from Orlando service center, and another 200 miles from the service center. The reservation was under my address close to the service center. This weekend I'll be at my address which is 200 mi away from the service center. Selecting either address gave me the same delivery date/time, so I selected the one 200 miles away where I'll be this weekend.

I'm concerned they won't actually be able to do the delivery since it's so far away from the service center and what the original pre-order address was.

Does anybody have experience receiving delivery far away from a service center? Does Rivian physically drive the vehicles that far? Or would they arrange for flatbed delivery with a guide? I'm wondering if once the guide looks at my order and they see a further address from the service center they were not anticipating, that they will cancel the delivery.

I guess I won't know for sure until I get a hold of my guide tomorrow, but just wondering what the delivery experience was for those that requested delivery far from the service center but originally had a pre-order address which was closer.

Home delivery is typically via flatbed to a few blocks close to your residence, then they unload it and drive it to your house. I am also scheduled to take delivery in South Florida this weekend, but may just fly to Orlando to pick it up and drive the 200 miles home.

Question - Do you have a contact AT the Orlando delivery center? I'm in Orlando, awaiting home delivery, which was originally scheduled for last week, then tomorrow, and is now delayed until next week. (All of this as there is an "issue" with my R1T they won't disclose).

Also - Did they offer pickup to you? I was told multiple times that it was not an option as this location doesn't yet have a sales license.

I'm sorry, I received no contact information other than the guide listed in the portal when I log in.

There was no option to select for pickup at the service center in Orlando. I talked to the woman who I did the First Mile last week and she said she also does customer deliveries. I asked about pickup and she said they are not offering that.

I've read many posts about delivery issues due to undisclosed reasons which is concerning. Hopefully they can get it straightened out for you soon.

Thanks for that information! You may want to check out RedCoach. I go back and forth all the time and took them last weekend from South Florida to Orlando. It is a very quick and easy ride for $65.

I was told no flatbed if you the within an hour of a local Service Center. They will drive it to you if so.

I spoke to someone on Reddit who lives in Miami. He flew up and picked up in Orlando. They don’t actually do the handoff at the SC, but at a nearby park. So it’s definitely possible. Rivian also sent out an email recently which offered pickup as an option, which my guide confirmed. Will let you know if I get a contaCt there.

Makes sense. My Guide indicated that they had been doing the delivery-in-a-park thing, but had stopped doing it at Rivian's discretion. Maybe he meant more specifically for someone like myself who lives 10 minutes up the road. In your case, I'd think they would welcome you coming up to save them the drive.

Either way, something to be mindful that if they decide to delay your delivery (like mine, multiple times) so that you don't put yourself out with the trip up here.

Closing the loop on this. After changing my address from Orlando to South Florida, Rivian delivered the vehicle without issues. Although, my guide was not of much help. He couldn't tell me the status of the delivery or where the truck was. The other guide was 15-20 minutes late and gave no prior notice or heads up.

The vehicle was delivered to West Palm Beach with several other R1Ts. A Rivian guide then took an Uber from Miami to West Palm to pick up the truck, then drove 40 miles to deliver it to me. He then took an Uber back to Miami. He told me he flies all over the place to deliver trucks to customers. If I remember this correctly, his next delivery he's flying from Miami to Jacksonville to deliver a vehicle there.

Seems like a lot of logistics and wasted expense to deliver these trucks.

I agree. If they want to scale they will have to eliminate these extra expenses.

Seems like there are much extra gymnastics invilved when dealing with places that are weird about direct sales.
