Delivery window - stale

Here are the details. Order is Dual Motor base R1T (Limestone/Ocean Coast), PPF and Manual Tonneau. WA state, so my SC where I will pick it up will be Bellevue, WA.


On 9/27/23 I get the purchase email, completed all but two steps so far (Insurance, Payment). I'm doing trade in and Rivian offered me the same price as other places (Carmax, Carvana etc.). I'm going to trade in my vehicle with Rivian as there is a tax incentive and it is frankly very convenient as well.

OK, so I have the VIN assigned and went through all but the last steps on 9, nothing else happened. Guide said my truck is still in Normal, IL and my delivery window says "Delivery Window opening soon" (with a note that says the truck is going through its final inspections).

Question to people here: I fear my 30 day offer for my trade in will expire at this pace, has anyone else go through similar experience? Was the trade in offer honored past 30 days?

I have read it here in the forums that Delivery Schedule Opening soon could take 4-6 weeks to change? If so why in the world does Rivian start the process so early but only honor 30 days for trade-in.

My rep told me 4-8 weeks, and he estimated early December. I am at the same step as you are. I confirmed everything on 10/2.

My Riv was built 9/11, and is still at the Normal, IL factory.

But my charger got delivered yesterday!

Have you asked them about the trade in offer possibly expiring because of the delay? I have to imagine this has come up before. My truck made it to the local SC before I could even start my 8 steps so it went very quickly. The service center was bugging me to come get it LOL

I have not bugged them yet, but I may do a follow up email to my Guide about more realistic timeline.

Also, I'm not sure if factory PPF will further delay my delivery timeline, yet still questioning why start the process when Rivian is not ready to hand over the truck.

I'm paying cash and ready to buy, but I can easily wait. I"m ready when Rivian is basically.

Well on that topic I do have some experience! I think the issue has gotten better since it happened with mine, but basically my truck was ready in Feb/ Mar but sat at the factory for 3 months because of a delay with factory PPF. Rivian actually removed it from my order and within 3 weeks I was taking delivery in Denver. So you might inquire about it, just in case they are struggling again.

Update on this, today I get a text message from the local Delivery Center.

Update on this: on 10/24 I get a text from the SC asking to finalize my last steps so I can get the vehicle by 10/27. Very close, almost to the finish line.
