Guide has responded that she does NOT think the trade is 100% and will see what she can do. Now I wait.
I just got a request for an updated photo of my Gladiator and some docs. It appears things are moving along, however slowly.
I will miss the old Jeep. I am sure the R1T will be a great replacement.

The last document that we finally got sorted was that the proof of insurance I supplied (with the Rivian VIN) didn't have the expiration date on it, so I needed a new larger screen shot of that.

That was sorted out around 11 AM this morning. I am in Phoenix and I see the car tomorrow at noon. Hopeful for no real issues. Will post after the deal is done.

Driving back from Phoenix to Dallas tomorrow through Sedona > Flagstaff > Albq. There are a number of RANs along the way. Looking forward to trying those out.

Very much wish I had a Tesla super charger adapter. Having to work around the dead space that is Wichita Falls is looking to be a pain (trip extender)

Now that I am back in Dallas from Phoenix, I had some time to think the transaction. It could have been a little smoother. In some cases, I would text and the responses would take 3-4 hours. In the end, the Guide said the people doing the corporate paperwork were overloaded. The windshield had a chip in it (they already had a workorder put in for me), and a few small plastic bits need to be fixed. Other than that, Rivian Phoenix was a nice shop, and the people there were exceptionally helpful.

The trip from Phoenix to Dallas (via Flagstaff) was great. The charging took more time than a gas fill up, but we appreciated the extra rest. The R1T Quad is a beast. What a pleasure to drive, especially on up-hills and high elevation, the power just seemed endless. I have the off-road package, but if I were to road trip it, I would do street tires and get the added range.
We used the following chargers. RAN, EA, EVGo, EV Connect, and Autel. RAN was awesome, but the GM Energy by EVgo were by far the best. Clean, super fast, and always worked.

Again, thanks for the great details everyone has posted. I think the demo cars make a ton of sense. Road tripping one home, really helps to get to know the vehicle.

Cheers.

DiveSherpa, I had originally reserved that truck from Phoenix, but they sent me back pictures with little dents along the tailgate and sides so I let it go. Curious as to what you think about those and if you can tell

There are some small imperfections and scuffs, but none that are that bad. The ones on the tailgate are almost not perceptible. I will wash and buff it tomorrow, and will be much more familiar with the state of paint and metal work then. For now, seems normal for a demo / 6K mile car. Some plastic trim has been worn out, like the inside door on the gear tunnel. Will see if they can replace that for me.

Brand new to this forum as I'm just about to purchase a demo vehicle. I placed a 2022 R1T Demo in my cart this past Wednesday but I haven't heard back from Rivian. How long does it take for Rivian to actually call back and start the process? In a perfect scenario I really want an R1S but all models on the site have a "sale pending" status. But it's been like this for days. Hoping when a Rivian sales rep finally calls me I can have them check and see if any of those R1S's might be available. I'm also guessing a bunch of new demo vehicles should be on the way from current showrooms as I'm sure Rivian wants to make way for the new Gen 2 refresh models. For those who have already bought a demo car...what was your experience with these situations?

I'm in the same boat. I am working an order on a demo and waiting for them to reach out to me. I placed my order June 5. Are you buying from the ATL SC?

I'm literally sitting in my newly-purchased demo R1T driving home from the delivery at this moment. (I live in IL but fetched the vehicle from Richmond, VA.) For me, the process was as smooth as I can imagine it ever being, but others have had a very different experience. I did a demo ride on a Thursday and had my deposit locked-in by the following Tuesday. That was exactly one month ago. The one-month lag was initially at my request--I don't have that kind of cash sitting around! But while prepping my truck, the folks at the Service Center found a problem with a door and it took a couple of weeks to get it fixed. Fortuitously, that got finished just a couple of days before the day I had initially requested for delivery. All of my communications were swift and accurate. So, yeah, fast and easy. But other folks on this forum hit many more speed bumps.

Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer! There really isn't one. But please keep us all informed of your progress! Good luck!

Just a follow-on to my previous: I haven't seen a single R1S hit the demo site in the month I've been monitoring it. And the total number of "in stock" vehicles is down to 11--it had been hovering around 35 to 40 for quite some time as vehicles sold and others were added. The fact that it's so low leads me to guess that they're almost done off-loading the current models. The demo vehicles in the field (I am assuming) will all be the "refreshed" edition. Until these start getting retired, darn few will wind up being sold off at a discount. If there isn't an R1S there now, I doubt there will be one added for at least a year--just me speculating.

The R1T I've targeted is in Normal and according to a sales rep I spoke to previously, that car can be shipped to Atlanta at no extra charge. So, yes I guess I'd be picking up from the Atlanta Service Center if I move forward with that car. Unless I'm able to find another I like better. In which case I'd be willing to travel to pick it up.

Appreciate the response. I'm just excited to get this process going. It's been 4 days since I placed my R1T in the demo cart and tied it to my 1K reservation for an order #.

I clicked reserve on the Shopify site on Tuesday around 5:30 PM and got my call Thursday at around 2 PM, so not quite 2 days. I put my deposit down immediately on Thursday, and uploaded docs Friday and Saturday. Sunday / Monday I drove from Dallas to Phoenix, Tuesday I took possession of the R1T and drove it back to Dallas by Wed. Night. So, the process can move fast once they call you. It will mostly depend on how complete the docs are that you upload to the site. When I screen snipped 2 docs I left off some small details that prolonged the process. Those were on me.

There were a few stumbles along the way, but the stress was that I needed it to move fast to decide about starting my 2 day drive to Phoenix. With the very favorable lease rates, the corporate folks that clear the docs are piled up, so some seemly simple tasks can take a long time. I just politely texted my Guide and kept asking status on the various tasks and she chased corporate for me.

Good luck. I am very impressed with the vehicle so far.

I just took a peek at the demo vehicle sale site and saw that there are only three vehicles left! I'm _so_ pleased to have hit the window of availability--by pure luck. I don't think we'll see multiple-dozens of available demos again for several years. Not until we are, once again, ramping up to a major refresh.

I saw that as well. I think those three are nice vehicles.

Even the over priced R1T in Canada is gone from the site.
