Did Gen 2 custom builds just get delayed? ?

Back in my days. Oh lord, I sound so old. When I had a confirmed reservation from 2021-2023.

Anytime we made changes to our config, our estimate date would disappear until the next database fresh typically on a quarterly basis.
I should have known it would be a database issue. Let's hope someone at Rivian doesn't trip over the power supply cable and unplug the server!

I have an update from Rivian:

"A delivery window estimate is automatically provided once the order is configured and confirmed, however, we will not be providing any additional delivery window refresh updates after confirmation. This is why the delivery window will likely not return to your account page.

Your estimated delivery window (August-September) you saw prior to the change was tailored towards the configuration you selected. The general configuration R1S Dual Max delivers within 1-4 months of confirming the order.

Because the update to your configuration was made on a one time exception, and this is not the norm after a confirmation is confirmed, I can't guarantee you will see a delivery window estimate in your account page again. However, since the configuration change was minor, it shouldn't impact this estimate much at all. You'll be alerted once it's time for you to begin the digital purchasing steps."

So, in sum, when you change a build order, it seems your Estimated Delivery Window is automatically removed from the config page, and it may never reappear (or, as someone suggested earlier in this thread, it may reappear after a Rivian database update... time will tell).

Hopefully this info is helpful for others who may be in a similar situation.

Now I have an excuse to keep poking the Rivian customer support team every day starting Aug 1. ?

Same thing here. I asked to switch tires and the battery, given by the time it’s delivered it’ll be autumn and I’d rather have the off road wheels for that season. Delivery window disappeared but support told me the window for the Dual Max remains August - September

I haven't changed a thing for my configuration and still think August - September is optimistic, but we'll see :)

I picked the same config in the builder this morning and it also says August - September ?. I choose to remain optimistic and hope for August! :)

FWIW the ‘Estimated Delivery’ section reappeared on my R1S Gen 2 custom build order page today; it now says “Processing Estimate.” Of course, no clue what that actually means. ?

Same for my order. ?
Thanks for chiming in. Not gonna lie—was kinda hoping this was unique to me, which would’ve potentially meant my VIN was getting ready to be processed. ?

Instead, now guessing that Rivian performed their quarterly database update, which means peoples’ Estimated Delivery timeframes would have appropriately updated (though this also doesn’t explain why my timeframe is ‘Processing Estimate’ and didn’t revert to the original ‘Aug-Sep’ timeframe). Perhaps there’s still hope!

Sorry to disappoint. I almost gave up yesterday when hope turned to frustration and now this new not-saying-anything status.

It’s truly something that we live in a world where consumers (us) can pay ~$100k for something and be okay with the lack of professional, thoughtful communication from the vendor (e.g., a formal ordering and delivery process that establishes a consistent framework with realistic expecations).

Joke’s on me, I guess.

Mine still says August - September 2024. I still highly doubt it though. It would need to be built in the next few weeks to make it here by the end of September.

Agree. Everything I’ve seen over the years seems to indicate that it typically takes 2-4 weeks (trending toward the latter) from the sharing of the VIN to delivery.

@Scoiatael are you planning to replace your T with an S? Or adding an S to the home/family? Interesting you’re going from El Cap to Limestone; El Cap was definitely on my short list but eventually landed on Limestone. Seems like such a unique color. And I like how it seemingly changes hues depending on weather and season (i.e., angle of sun).

My custom build was also Aug-Sep 2024, then yesterday I couldn't find the estimate anywhere in my account, and today it's back but now says "processing estimate." Lol. I was checking the forums to see if anyone else was experiencing this and I've found confirmation - thanks! That doesn't alleviate the desire but at least I know I'm not the only one.

When you build a custom spec on the website today, most options (at least for Max pack) are still estimating 1-6 weeks or Aug-Sep for my location. Starting next week, 6 weeks will be Oct. so there's no meaningful difference between these estimates at this point and it increasingly seems like these estimates may not be accurate. We shall see. Still hopeful.

I ended up trading my T in for an F150 Lightning, and will likely sell the Lightning when I get my S. I like El Cap more, but my wife and daughter liked Limestone, so they outvoted me :)
