I run a small rental fleet and I rent my R1S out. My last renter I think had a valet get into an accident and delete the footage. I don't want to share too many details since this is ongoing.

I was just thinking about your thread on your fleet and wondering how it was going. I hope this accident wasn't serious.

I do not know. But am very interested in the answer and, or how to upload the data to the cloud on demand or via a schedule.

I picked up my T last Friday. All of this week I have avoided leaving my car with valet folks thinking this could happen. An accident and they figure out how to delete the content.

I hope your issue is resolved to your satisfaction.

It's a weird one, 99% certain it's not my renter, let me confirm that and I'll post the details. I'm guessing $10k in damage.

Small correction, but you're looking for Incident Cam. This only records when triggered (and it likely wasn't if the car is still driveable and the horn wasn't honked) and is saved to internal storage. There is no user facing recycle bin. If you had transferred the video to external storage, and then it was deleted, there would be a potential for recovery. I think your out of luck unless you find a security cam of the incident.

Of course I have that thing where the data port is disabled from the factory

Luckily Rivian is looking at it tomorrow at 4 so I can pull the video after if its a simple toggle maybe, I may share the tale on another thread because I want peoples opinions, it's turned into an investigation and we're throwing Four Seasons and Icon Parking under the bus.

if that is what happened and you can prove it, I hope you hammer those scumbags. That is EXTRA greasy.

It's plausible it didn't set off the incident or motion camera, I'll post to another thread since this is specific to recycling bins, if we're gonna have drama, we might as well have it in the right place :p

While I suggested PIN to delete gear guard content, I think that @Donald Stanfield has a better option for most people:
Or a valet mode that allows you to configure to lock down access to all the modes, the music, the speed and acceleration and keeps the GPS from being overwritten. A pin or the mobile app would be required to enter valet mode and exit said mode.
I’d add some other features to valet mode, too.
1. Lock the camp speaker and remind owner to place the flashlight in the center console
2. Disable the buttons for the center console
3. Disable frunk access
4. Disable the lift gate (or tailgate and power tonneau cover)
5. Inhibit automatic suspension height changes such as kneel or return from kneel
6. Maybe present only the driver’s door handle rather than all 4 to reduce the chance of damage to the other handles in tight spaces

I don’t know how you’d require renters to use this diligently, though, so it could be that you’d need a rental mode to lock down gear guard delete and disable center console access plus other features you select as the owner.

One of the brief conversations I had with a tech (they're obviously busy, especially in Brooklyn) he was interested in how users and phone as key worked in a fleet setting so, it would seem they're actively discussing and working on it. Nice to see them engaging with their front line techs, probably amazing for morale and even better for their long term bottom line. This kind of thinking is famously how the Japanese did so well in the auto market in the 70s/80s into the dominant super power they are in the automotive industry, they constantly got and incorporated feedback from "ground forces" and customers.
