I bought steps from Big Ass Dog Company. They "sort of" fit in the side door of an R1S, but I did scratch the threshold and speaker a little (no big deal). If you get some tube padding, you'd be set. Problem is, my dog is afraid of stairs. But the videos show that a lot of dogs don't mind. They are very sturdy and easy to install and store.

Thank you to all that have replied. I am getting some good ideas. I like filling the “wells” with a box as this will prevent Okie from falling in there should I need to make a sudden stop. Cosmicrivian, do you have dimensions? Plywood?

I just used scrap 2x4s and scrap plywood. Very basic set up with some leftover indoor-outdoor carpet that I had from another project to round it off.

As for dimensions, here are some rough measurements with the carpet adding a little to each side:

Top: 9"x17"
Height: 14.5"

And, because people rightly point out that there should always be pictures of dogs in every post on a thread with this theme, here are two taken last night in the Portland Rivian Space.
