I meant to add something above. To help quantify the difference with the higher SoC. So even on what might be slower tires, the higher SoC translated into at least 0.1 seconds and typically 0.2 seconds quicker for my 50-90 time. So from about 4.4 to 4.2. This puts it about 0.6 seconds quicker than what my Model 3 Long Range with boost runs at it typical SoC and lover 0.25 seconds faster than it ran with a 90% charge.

My Model 3 is probably the absolute slowest car I'd want for a daily driver. My hope is that even with the weight of the accessories that I plan to put on it (metal topper, gear tunnel slide and running boards), my quad will still be at least as quick as my 3 at higher speeds.

Nothing earth shattering here but I was curious what a Dual Standard R1S would run in the 1/4 so I setup the dragy in my wife's. Not too bad but wish it was faster!

Rivian R1T R1S Dragy and timed runs - post your data here 1741180447146-aq

Better by far than a 1990 Mustang GT I had that was bone stock. Then I turbo'd it and made it pretty quick. Stock I was 0-60 in the 6 second range and mid 14's. Amazing how far we've come.

Took my new (to me) R1S to the drag strip today and made 5 passes. I didn't take diligent notes but here's some info:

Vehicle: 2023 R1S QM large pack
SW: 2025.10.01
Weather: 55F and cloudy, 10-20mph cross wind
Battery temp: ~90-95F (from what I recall)
Track surface was prepped with VHT
Wheels/tires: Factory 22" with fresh Continental Terrain Contact A/T in 275/50R22 @ 42psi
SOC: started at ~90%, dropped to about 84% after 5 runs
Mode: sport, low suspension, firm, reduced stability

First pass clocks had an error, but MPH seemed accurate.
I saw the thread that All Purpose made more power than sport mode, so on the 4th pass I switched modes about 100 feet out (sport -> AP). Probably too many variables too determine if it made a difference.
Last run only change was I ran at 'lowest' setting versus 'low'.

I was happy with the truck's performance and consistency, especially given I was running on all terrain tires that are 5 lbs heavier than OEM. Really wish they'd allow for max performance in sport mode as well as unlock the top speed. It was really apparent when the top speed limiter was hit.

Very solid and consistent runs. Thanks for posting what info you could.

Yeah, clearly the 1/4 mile runs are being neutered by the speed limiter. It is so frustrating for me I don't bother running more than an 1/8th. You can't really acocurately compare your times to anything as you hit the limiter well before the end. Still waiting on launch mode for the Gen1's.

I think there is a better chance of me buying a Cybertruck than there is of getting launch mode on a Gen1 R1 at this point. I drove a Cyberbeast this weekend and it is obviously so much quicker than any Rivian currently shipping. I drove my Plaid there and I was down to a 40% SoC and the CB didn't feel that much slower than my Plaid at that SoC. Absolutely less wind noise than my truck even with all the wind noise mitigation I've done.

I really hope Rivian dials in the new quads so they are quicker than a CB CT at all speed ranges. Meanwhile I'll keep hoping for launch mode for the Gen1 to do a better heads up comparison against the Tri max.

As for AP being quicker at higher speeds, it is about a tenth for me when I did a fair number of runs. Not sure it is worth the hassle. If I am at lights, I have it in sport. If on the highway I am in AP or conserve. Sport is just so much quicker to 60 than AP that I never run it if I am going use AP if under 40 mph. Sport's advantage easily offsets the marginally quicker AP times at higher speeds. I've tried doing the switch into AP while accelerating like you did and I am not sure it is worth it.
