I have a service appointment on July 5 for a bad sensor. I have added this issue to it. And yes it was behaving like this before the sensor went bad.

Thanks! This is a good theory. You might find that even with the tent off to the back, that the HA is degraded from GPS multi path caused by the nearby metal structure sitting above the antenna plane.
I took a long drive with my tent slid back and your theory about the interference from the metal structure proved to be prescient. My HA works better with the tent slid back but there's clearly still enough interference to make HA unusable. It will cut in and out for a while and it eventually gives up. Based on my experience so far, I'd say HA is simply not compatible with cab height roof top tents that sit anywhere near the antenna.

Update: After the third SC visit for this issue, the HA / GNSS functionality might finally be fixed. Just did a test drive on the highway and HA worked pretty well. It only complained once due to a funny way the lanes were drawn (“lane narrowing, take control”). More testing needed but so far, HA availability far better than it was before on the same stretch.

Kudos to the service team in Denver and the engineering team for getting to the bottom of it, and persevering. I got updates from service every other day while I was away on a business trip and they finished the work right before I returned.

For those interested, there was ultimately a harness issue but it turns out that in some earlier R1T vins (I’m around 7000), the bed camera unit can cause intermittent GNSS signal interference making any other signal issue almost impossible to troubleshoot. After replacing the spoiler (which now includes antennas and harnesses and a different camera unit) with a newer version, this seems to now be addressed. I am very curious if the new camera will stop all of my camera feeds from freezing in hot temperatures. after reviewing the camera recordings from a trip in the desert earlier this year, I noticed that this behavior starts with the bed camera locking up first.

Also of note, replacing a spoiler is a PITA for service due to the way it’s attached. I really feel for those folks. It was never designed to be removed and I hope Rivian changes that since there is so much functionality in there.

A negative side effect of this last visit is that my TPMS doesn’t seem to work and throws a service warning on almost every drive. Not sure if that’s related to service or to the new software which was installed during the service visit.

A positive side effect is that the new spoiler seems to be a much better fit to the shape of the glass roof making a smoother overall shape, especially near the corners of the glass.

I’ve noticed my driver + won’t engage anymore for me since this last update 2023.38. It doesn’t matter where I’m at. Says unavailable on this road. This was never an issue before on the same roads. Anyone else?

Were you able to get this fixed? Mine started behaving the exact same way, I believe around 2023.42 (hard to say as I didn’t drive it on highway for a week prior to the update).

Curious if it’s a hardware issue or not.

Update 2023.42.2 has fixed the issue for me.

Driver+ seems so temperamental… I assume no soft/ hard resets fixed it until the update?
