I think limiting access to USB media, etc (and Android Auto for that matter) are related to enhance (cyber) security? (same for Tesla)
But I might be wrong.

A few posts ago, I posted that I copied my mp3's to my phone and connect by BT. I forgot to mention that my phone is an Android, not an iphone. The way it connects isn't the problem. It's the lack of a media browser. Trying to juggle the phone and looking at the screen to change songs while you're driving is not only inconvenient, it's dangerous.

I too would like this to work, my current work around is to use Plexamp to my phone, full bandwidth, and it sounds reasonable.

but certainly not as good as a direct connection would.

I found a nice way, all my music MP3, Aiff... are on my Dropbox then I use this iOS app called MusicBox https://apps.apple.com/us/app/musicbox-player-for-dropbox/id1212543936 that is basically a player for you clouds music Icloud, Dropbox...

PlexAmp is another great option for those in that ecosystem who want locally stored music.

Hi Folks - I have my MP3 library on a USB stick, and it has played great in a Tesla, a BMW and a Lucid. By, that I mean the FIDELITY is superior to any wireless approach i have tried. Can any of you folks confidently say that your non-USB approach has the same audio fidelity as a USB stick? I am not a Rivian owner and the lack of a USB data ready port is a big reason for that.

MP3 is a low quality format. If you are using actual MP3, not FLAC or WAV, then your audio quality and fidelity are sub-par already. Most streaming services have superior bitrates, compression, and fidelity right now (other than the current Spotify, but this will change very soon).
