Spraying the 21" aero covers in Gunmetal....

Hello Rivarians. Has anyone tried spraying the 21" aero covers in gunmetal gray to match the 21" wheel paint? Basically, this would sort of make it look like the 21s without aero covers (a better look), but provide the 3-5% range benefit. Thinking about do this, but wanted to see if it has been done before (and what it looks like)!

I don't think it will look like it does without the covers if you do that. It will stick out as an insert no matter what if it is all one color. Maybe if you only painted part of it you could make it look like the naked wheels, but you will have to be good at masking or it will look really bad. Basically you would have to just paint the area outside the line gunmetal.

I think you might be better off going black on the wheel if you want to keep the covers and not have it stick out so much.

I got some gun metal plastic dip, I will spray 1 end of week or this weekend and post it up, I'm curious as well. Only bad part about that is I will miss seeing the yellow calipers

Here’s my LA Silver; currently without aero 21”

Nice! Yep got home and had 1 extra can of the plasti dip in gun metal. Just sprayed few coats on the 2 of them waited couple hours then took the pics. I didn't try to do a professional job by any means so up close you could see some runs but very easy. Just peels off, the thicker the coat the easier to take off.

Good to know! Are you going to run with them for a while, or peel?

I'm peeling i thought the black looked better, I might go crazy one day and spray the rivian gold/yellow on them ?
