Hi all - I am in the waiting list for the R1S and set for delivery this Oct - Dec.

As I’ve been waiting I’ve continued to read about Driver+, as assisted cruise control technologies are one of the more important aspects for me. If I were to pull the trigger on the R1S, I’d at least need it to work with quality lane centering, ACC, and other driver assist features on the major highways in Central Florida (I-4, 275, 75, 529, 417, 570, etc).

Can anyone speak to their experience with the latest Driver+ updates on these roads? Thanks!

I have an R1T and a Model Y. R1T is actually now significantly better than the Model Y. The only con is that autopilot works on all roads whereas Driver + is not. The roads you mentioned it will be fine though.

That’s a huge help, thanks! I’ve always held Autopilot as the gold standard but I think things have moved around the last few years in that regard.

What vehicle are you currently using?

Even though the full Driver+ doesn't work on unmapped roads the vehicle still reads lines for LCA. There is an option to turn LCA on/off but I keep it on. Before I took delivery the driver assist features were a huge concern as y EV6 had fantastic driver assist features. Though the EV6 is still better than my R1T the R1T is catching up and is now very close to the EV6. I have a feeling it will match the EV6 by summers end.

IMO Autopilot has gone downhill since moving away from radar. My 2018 model 3 was significantly better than my 2022 Model Y.

I currently drive an Audi without ACC/LKA, so anything will be an improvement. My family has a MS and a M3 and I Turo’d an Escalade to see how well Super Cruise worked (I was impressed by the smoothness of the highway driving, but the same issue exists for non-mapped streets).

Thanks for sharing about the rapid improvements, I’m glad to hear that Driver+ is moving in the right direction.

My wife drives a '17 Q7 w/the driver assist package. The R1T is currently very similar to this (w/graphics displaying other vehicles/people), it may take sharp turns marginally better but as you are not able to change the active lane assist distance it sometimes gets uncomfortable close to other vehicles on the passenger side during highway drives. This is prob just me though as I like to steer away when passing vehicles. But like I mentioned, the Q7 is what it is and has been the same since we bought it, the Rivian is slowly improving. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
