hah it works for me. Let me find one that doesn't say that though. To be safe.

edit: I think the reason it says this is because most usb A adapters do NOT offer the 3 amps. If you look at all the adapters (pretty much all the same) they all state must offer 3 amps for magsafe.

Can you share the thickness of the plate? I tried putting a relatively thin item (silicone coaster) between my phone and a MagSafe puck and it basically renders the magnets useless. The puck won’t even stick. I’m concerned with how well the MagSafe function will work with the pucks under the wood and plastic.

It's only under the wood. So .6 mm. The plastic part has cut outs for the pucks. If it didn't stick I'd have the pucks exposed.

I'm going to ask for those looking into buying USB a to USB c adapters. I'm going to create a solution that doesn't require you to spend more money. So hold off for a bit.
