I went at least 10 years without a flat and then had two in the first month of owning the R1S. It was also the same tyre. I took it to a local tyre shop and they replaced the first one for about $400. The second time they repaired it and I bought a warranty. I also bought the tyre repair kit. No flats since then.

Perelli only offers mileage warranty on their run flat tires. Rivian doesn’t have run flat tires so no warranty. But they will take into account how long you have had the tire for and work with Rivian or Americas Tire to help alleviate costs.

If you use the liquid tire repair kit, can you still plug and patch it?

I went to Americas Tire. The front two tires are 6/32 and the rear tires are 5/32. They told me they recommend buying two tires (of course) and not just replacing the one. I didn’t know these tires wear so quickly. I know it’s a big heavy car but at 8000 miles, they are already at 5/32 and 6/32? That means we will go through a full set of tires in under 15k miles.

Would anyone just replace the one?

I don't think the tire app that America's Tire uses is accurate. I saw the service technician using some app on his cell phone to measure the tire tread. Costco uses the traditional tire gauge and measured 7-8 / 32 on the front and 6-7 / 32 on the rear.

Or is it OK to mix brands? Costco does not sell Perelli and recommend Michelin Defender LTX2. I’ll save $100 per tire. Michelin Defender LTX2 116H = $364 per tire. Perelli Scorpion all season = $464 per tire. Buy the Michelin and put them in the rear and leave the Perellis in the front.

I didn’t expect Michelle is to be cheaper than the Perelli scorpion all seasons, but only problem is it is backordered for a month.

THat's about what I got on mine. These tires don't last long.

Rivian service is saying it is not recommended to mix tire brands because they cannot calibrate. And thus can’t measure the correct speed and range. Is this true and would it avoid any warranty?

It's never been a good idea to mix brands on Radial tires. Staying with the same brand/model tire, It's okay to replace them in sets of 2 if the other pair is still serviceable.

That being the case, if you replace just 2 tires, do you put the new ones on the front or the rear? in front wheel drive vehicles I've read you want the best tires on rear to prevent fishtail/kickout when cornering. On rear wheel drive vehicles of course you put the best tires on the rear. What's the protocol for putting only 1 set of new tires on an AWD vehicle? Front or rear axle?

If you end up purchasing 2 new tires, have them save the good one (the one without the puncture), you can keep it as a ready replacement. Because, as you know, Rivian tires are not stocked by anyone except a Rivian SC.

I think America Tire said to put the two new tires on the rear. Need to confirm if mixing brands does violate warranty. It sounds silly. I’ll probably try to sell the one good tire if anyone wants them.
