Frame Straightening Tips

Hey folks!

Working on a salvaged R1S outside of normal warranty. I am working with a non-Rivian-certified shop that would like to know the frame connection points and what the clamps look like. I've heard EVO3 clamps work with the car-o-liner system, but no idea what it looks like or where it connects. Anybody have any useful information? Frame specs, measurements, or service manual access would be incredible.

As a side note, if anyone is working on a salvage or considering paying for access the service manual ($2.5k/year), please reach out to me. I'm hoping to find people to share resources with.

Does Rivian have a one day access to their manual? If they do, I know a company who will copy the entire manual for the car for you in that one day and give you a PDF for a couple hundred bucks. That's what I did for a Subaru I was rebuilding.

I tried, extensively, to negotiate a trial access to their manual with no luck. They were quite firm. I think rounding up enough people to make the chip-in price worth it is the way to go.

They do, it's the same price as 365 days of access

FWIW, there's a similar thread on Right to Repair with folks pooling to get service.manual access, tools, and software.

That's a brave move to take on frame straightening. Lots of R1S out there "totalled" without any frame damage.

Did some body straightening on my R1T, but that doesn't impact the frame, alignment, tracking, etc.

Unfortunately those are not shown in the partner portal. I'm not yet sure if they sell their own clamps to be used with existing frame machines.

Ha, I think that's me on the other thread leading the charge for the service manual. I've got a few bites so far, maybe not enough to get the price down enough yet.

You're right- frame work is very challenging. Normal bends, sway, can all be done fairly easily by most frame shops, regardless of the frame material. I may have bitten off too much with a buckle in the frame horn. Getting a lot of push back for that. Hopefully it will work out. If not this will end up in Europe where thorough state inspections for salvage titles aren't a thing.
