You mean Same Shirt Kyle? Dude wears the same hoodie and pants in all his videos. Hopefully they get washed every day :D

Drive through car wash at the gas station. Some of y'all have way too much time on your hands. ??
I’m with you: I’m not driving myself crazy taking extraordinary measures to keep our off-roader pristine.

After we take delivery, other Rivian owners will surely mock our dirty R1S or tell others how much better their Rivian looks than the shameful one they saw covered in dust.

We spend so much time in the desert that our LR3 is dusty more often than not and has more pin stripes than a Wall St. conference room. I promise you it wouldn’t have 244,000+ miles on it if we truly neglected it, though. So our future Rivian may be dirty, but I promise you it will be taking us to some really cool places…

Not a substitute for real detailing, but for quick washes that don't waste a lot of water and get your car 90% there, I love Optimum No Rinse. Been using it for years and it's super fast and efficient to do a standard wash.

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I’ll try this after we get our Rivian so I don’t become a pariah. This looks like my kind of product given my apathetic car cleaning regimen, local water restrictions, and home close to the beach where soapy runoff isn’t great.

You will love this. You can put it in a spray bottle and just go section by section and wipe it off as you go. It's a game changer for me. (also in SoCal)

+1 for Optimum. I use this stuff all the time on my cars. Great product and gets the job done. My Vette is mirror black and it doesn't get all scratched up using this. I also keep a bottle of this mixed up for use as "detail spray". It works great as lube if you clay bar the paint. My brother uses it on his airplane as well. Everyone should have a bottle of this around in my opinion as it works and it's not expensive. Not an investor BTW, just a satisfied customer! ha ha
Great call out!

Ceramic coatings have no issues with car washes, unless that car wash uses abrasive brushes (which you should avoid in all situations IMO). I applied my own ceramic coating for ~$60, it's very reasonable if you DIY and only takes a couple hours start to finish (including washing)
The DIY solutions are very reasonable - I'm talking more about the several thousand dollar versions that people pay detailers for.

Ceramic coatings don't like the chemicals that most automatic car washes use because it strips the hydrophobic layers of the ceramic coat.

Are ceramic-coated cars safe in a car wash?
The short answer is YES! You can take a ceramic coated car through a car wash but remember, not all car washes are the same. We recommend you stay away from automatic car washes that still employ abrasive brushes to clean your car. These abrasive brushes can damage the coating and your paint. What’s worse, some automatic car washes use harsh chemicals and unclean equipment. The harsh chemicals can deteriorate the life of your coating.

Harsh chemicals will deteriorate the life of any coating, not just ceramic. But yea I can’t believe how much some places charge for a ceramic coating after seeing how easy it is to apply.

I have a great car wash guy come twice a month. The truck has a ceramic coat and front film. In between I use Shine products and super soft towels. Dirt and water. Repel off of the truck.
