That seems to be the going rate in many areas.

My guy called me at 8pm tonight to tell me he could do my R1T on the 17th and I would get it back on the 19th... he is going to text me pricing options tomorrow.
Makes sense. I've had quotes to wrap the entire vehicle in the $4,000 range. If I was an off-roader, would maybe consider a full wrap, but I'm not. Personally, I just bought some clear PPF and did mine myself. I know it takes A LOT of skill to do these things and for that reason I guess I understand why they charge what they do. But, I still can't bring myself to spend that kind of money for PPF or wraps.

I spent less than $100 for a couple of rolls of PPF and did the forward facing areas myself. Wasn't a perfect job, but got most of them done without creases or bubbles. The mirrors were my weak spots with the curves. Right mirror came out OK. Left mirror was the last thing I did and it came out pretty crappy, but it gets the job done. Have to look pretty closely to find the imperfections.

In my mind, it's just too pricey to spend that much when I can do an OK job myself for just a few bucks.

I am a bit surprised to see the pricing on the DIY kits being near $1,000 when Rivian will do it for $1,500 installed. Again, the labor seems to be where the pricing gets so high. A roll of PPF is cheap. Sure, there's some value to pre-cutting, but curved areas are still hard to do, even with pre-cut pieces.

Just my own personal opinion. I wanted to black out my Tesla and was getting quotes at $1,500+. Spent $50 on black vinyl and did it myself. Again, wasn't perfect, but you have to get really close to find any imperfections. Three years later, it's still holding up strong. Naturally, different things have value to different people. $4,000 to $5,000 to wrap a vehicle just isn't one of them for me personally. If I were ordering a new truck, I'd probably pony up the $1,500 to have the factory do it and not have to deal with it, but wouldn't spend that much to go have it done after buying it. Maybe if they could come to me and do it. But, the thought of having to take it down to the installer and leave it for a day or two (or more) is not appealing. I'll stick with my $100 method. If it starts peeling, I'll spend another $100 and do it again. So far, about 8-9 months since I did the Rivian and it's held up fine.

When you say edge wrapping is coming soon, which of your PPF products will offer edge wrapping? When do you expect to begin offering that?
My current thinking is that I will start with the full front (compatible with R1T and R1S) and then do full wrap for R1S (with option for edge wrapping so if you want to do a Stealth wrap you can do that too), as I now have my own R1S and it's just easier. Then at some point I will rent a R1T to finish the full edge wrap for it too.
I might add it as an option for individual panels too, if people request it.
As for when - I am not sure. I very much hope it will be done sometime in August, because if I am not done by mid-Aug, then it will have to wait for at least mid-Sept, as I am going to Europe for several weeks. Whether I will manage to do it by mid-Aug - I don't know. We are about to move to a new much bigger facility in about 10 days, so it's hard to predict how much of my time it will take. Also we are actively hiring people so I don't have to work on production floor so much, so how much time I have for product development will also depend on how quickly we find & train people for production...just saying this to give you a realistic idea that there are too many moving pieces to be able to accurately predict, but my desire is to have it asap.

I guess it depends on if you intend to keep the vehicle long term and want in in close to new as possible or you don't mind some nicks and so on?

After seeing that crap (in my 1st post) from the neighbors fireworks display on my hood I thought for sure It would require a $500-$1,000 re-paint. At that point I would demand the neighbor pay for the work since I have clear video evidence he caused the damage from at least three 1080P HD surveillance cams. Luckily it all came off with some cleaner wax, but going forward it's just worth the peace of mind to PPF at least the hood for occasions like that and it will also help prevent staining from the tons of birds we have around here who seem to like to poop exclusively on vehicles.

My guy just texted me his price for the front end wrap (all frontal area + hood + front of fenders), he wants $1,500. I'm going to see how much he wants just for the hood only...

I sent my guy the photos below from TWRAPs to show what I was looking to cover.. he will do it plus the gloss black bumper for $1,200. That seems reasonable to me.. I booked the date.

Definitely more reasonable. I'd even start considering it at that price. My turn off is still the hassle of having to take the truck to them and leave it for a day or two, but at that price, it starts making sense. Great job shopping around and getting a good deal on it.

Sure.. I can give you his info here- he has his own website https://iwrapny.com/ his name is Efe, his cell number is on the "contact us" page of his site. If you let him know Rob with the Rivian and Tesla's referred you he may give you a little off?

He dd both our Tesla's, one in 2020 and the other in 2021.. he is very meticulous and detail oriented. When I first met him in 2020 he was working out of his house, but he became busy enough that in 2021 he now has his own shop (which is super clean BTW). He also has access to a window tint guy (we had him tint our Model 3 windows while it was at his shop getting wrapped) and a PDR guy if you need any dings removed.

Last night the genius across the street decided to blow off a ton of fireworks in the street vs. his own backyard like most people do. I woke up to three of our cars littered with debris from his pyrotechnics. Thankfully with the help of cleaner wax from my boat all the marks came off my hood, the Tesla hood and the i3 hood.

So, I think it's time to get the front end wrapped, just the hood and flat nose area should do in my case as I don't really drive a lot. My R1T was delivered Jan 20th and I just broke 1K miles on the odometer last week.

With that in mind.. I'm looking for cost info from anyone who has done similar work (just a front end wrap) before I call my PPF guy (who has done both our Tesla's earlier) so I know if I have to negotiate with him or not if his price is reasonable.

Thanks in advance!

You should be around 1500-2500 depending on the quality of installation you're looking for. Head over to xpel.com and you'll find a list of installers in your area. Wish you were closer and we'd help you out. If you always hand was the vehicle, I'd recommend using the Xpel ULTIMATE FUSION ceramic coated film. You will also have the option to do the full vehicle which generally ranges from 5500-7500.

I always use the same guy (I live in SoCal) and he charges me $2K for front end for all of my vehicles I've done with him.

This includes hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, and mirrors. Edges all wrapped. He will also do the top of the rear bumper and under door handles for no charge if you choose.

I asked him for my upcoming R1S and he said same thing. There's a possibility I will have him PPF the rear lower bumper for anything that's kicked up by the rear tires.

Places around me seem to charge anywhere from $1200-2500 but as you know PPF installation quality can vary greatly. I'd rather not squabble over a couple hundred dollars and go somewhere that has a proven record.

Never go with the cheapest place. SoCal obviously has a lot of options. I've seen $750 front end PPF installs. My 3 year old could do a better job. I've also seen $1500 entire car vinyl wraps. You can see the quality, it is not good. A good vinyl wrap (not PPF) should be in the $3-5K range depending on size/complexity of vehicle.
Well said man.

just go with XPEL Rivian package and ask your installer to match it and then charge a little more for wrapped edges and anything else you want covered like A pillars and a top of the front roof.

Get the front extended PPF option with headlights and fog lights. Get a quote from your installer using Rivian XPEL as a base price.

If looking for a budget style of installation this would be a way to go for sure. We offer it, but none of our Rivian clients have taken us up on that offer, all have chosen to go with our 7000 package for gloss or 7500 for Xpel STEALTH satin matte finish, which included the full 10-year warranty on film, lifetime on workmanship, near all edges wrapped, plus the lights and all of the gloss black pieces, plus bottoms of door sills and interior screens.

Wow, I had ceramic coating and PPF on the front end, (‘23 R1T, Ocean Blue) knowing that PPF is very expensive and lasts longer . I’d figure it was insurance against , scrapes, scratches, fireworks, rocks. Very happy with it so far. Paid around $3500+. The ceramic coating for the truck and PPF ran abut $6500+ total. Hope this helps.

I was amazed the hot debris didn't do any permanent damage to my hood, the cleaner wax removed what the Meguires Gold car soap didn't. I was on the fence about spending $$ for PPF because I will be putting about 2K miles on my Rivian per year. But, it seems now even our own yard isn't safe any more.. so wrap I must!

My R1S just PPF’d. My installer AJ@ Supreme Shine uses bulk film and did an amazing job.

If I had the camera footage of my neighbor doing that he would be paying my detailer to fix it.
