I noticed it gets hot in there as well. We go out on day trips with our little ones frequently and we pack lunches, drinks and juice boxes in a Yeti backpack and I put it in the frunk sitting on top of extra insulation to reduce the thermal transfer. It works. Also do the same when we drive 2.5 hours to the beach for the weekend. But yeah, wouldn’t put anything that would be at risk of melting. Without being in a cooler.
