Gear Guard Cable - how secure items in the bed?

The gear guard cables are a great security feature but I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how to use them to secure items in the bed? I am particularly interested in any ideas on how to use them to keep items from shifting around in the bed. They obviously work well in locking items to prevent theft but how does one take up the slack to avoid items moving around?

I would not rely on the GearGuard cable to secure items against movement. It is a theft deterrent, only.

For securing loads against movement/shifting you need to use bungie cords and straps.
