Note that neither Rivian nor Tesla J1772 chargers qualify for some rebates such as the $500 rebate by Pacific Power in Oregon. More information on that in their FAQ here EVSE_Rebate_FAQ.pdf (pacificpower.net).
That aside, it looks like Tesla's charger is cheaper than Rivians at $550

Thanks for everyone's feedback on this. I decided to go with the Charge Point Home Flex, because my utility provider gives a $500 rebate for that unit. Can't beat that!

I also have a Model Y and the first Tesla charger I bought didn't work, so I bought another one. Come to find that the "dip" switch wasn't set to 48A! That left me with a spare Tesla charger.
I installed it in my Florida house, hardwired, and had to buy the J adapter to allow my Rivian to charge. Works like a charm with no issues in a year.
The adapter was $179 on Amazon.
As an option, go to Ebay and see how many Tesla chargers there are for sale, some even under $300!

Tesla’s newest wall connector has connectors for both the Tesla and J1772 vehicle charge ports as part of the assembly. Was just released recently

I went with 14-50 outlets for our 2 other properties and use the portable charger. Since they are second homes we don't have a need to charge quicker.
