I would be suspicious of this approach for an off road quality vehicle. I’m no engineer, but this does seem to be headed down the weird path of saving time and money on the manufacturing side while potentially making the vehicle less serviceable and durable(?)

Just because Elon says it saves time and money doesn’t mean it’s a good thing for anyone else but Elon. In fact history probably supports just the opposite.

Totally agree. I’m also curious to see what crash testing shows on the new Model 3 and Ys that Tesla just started building with this process.

I'm very curious about this too.

Not really suprised, you add so much complexity fitting everything onto a single casting that you make compromises on form, fit, and function. If the process is so bad they're scrapping over 60%, can you imagine how much rework they have to do to get the other 40% useable?
