Giving R2 reservation to my son

Just curious if there’s a process that when I can finally order the R2, that I can give my res to my son and he purchases it?

You’d have to purchase the car and then separately give the car to your son.

There are only limited options for this. With the R1 you were able to title it to a family member at the same address, at least. For example if you wanted to title it in your spouse's name. Perhaps if you use your son's address on the reservation form, this might be possible in your case. They just today started asking for delivery address and Launch Edition preference. But I would definitely call Rivian and ask if you want to do something like this, because in general they're not going to let you transfer the reservation to anyone else.
