My R1T crossed over 42k miles recently and like many folks, I was becoming due for new 20” tires. I liked the OEMs for my mainly on-road driving, but occasionally off-road fun.

I’ve geeked out for months over all the tire brands, potential size changes, etc. but there is one brand I’d never seen reports of, so I bought them for two reasons: I’m generally against spending absurd money on tires unless I can be convinced of benefits, and I figured I’d fall on the sword to give people the benefit I didn’t have- a write-up of experience.

So, I ended up going with X-Comp Gladiator A/T tires in the stock LT275/65/20 size. Off SimpleTire, they were less than half the cost of the Toyo OC3 EV tire, and about the same story for Nitto Grapplers and others that were in contention that I’d seen many post about.
Admittedly, I was a bit worried before ordering because the extent of the brand exposure I’d had were some well known YT influencers and off-road contests, such as rally’s and others. I’ve seen there tires on vehicles much heavier than ours. I hadn’t seen folks driving around with them, but maybe it’s because they’re just not one of the big brands.

I just got them put on on 12/11, so will update this thread with answers to questions and my experiences at the 1k mark.

Initial impressions- the tires look good. I’m a fan of the more aggressive looks, but this is up to each person.

They’re much quieter than my 85% worn stock Pirellis- I hear the electric motors far more than the tires now, where it had been a mix.

The tires also seem to stick to the road well, and are responsive (running about 50 PSI- they’re rated up to 80).

Will follow up as the mileage racks! Cheers!

Dang. Doesn’t look like they offer a 22”. Actually they do. But the load index is 114. So I’d have trouble finding an installer.

wahhhh

Let us know how they feel in Sport….

The price of $180 each is impressive!
Look forward to a detailed review especially re: traction…my guess is you will get ~2 MPK (slightly more if you use conserve, less if you don’t), the only minor thing I can see is that tread is only 15/32 for a 57# tire…

By comparison, the Nitto Terra Grappler in 33” is 11# less each and 13.5/32 (but costs $100 extra each)…

Can you add a pic of them on your truck?

Cheap tires generally do not last. Will be interesting to see if that generalization holds true.
While this might be true, the bigger issue with these is quality control and ability for shops to balance them. Also lots of reports of cheap tires having “roundness” issues…and then of course the classic memory problem where if parked too long the tire gets a flat spot that can linger…

If nothing else, these seem a good option if you need to replace tires before returning a leased vehicle.

Following up here after a little over 1,000 miles— the tires feel good. They’re quiet, with pretty decent response. About 800 of the miles have been on interstates between 75-80 mph in temps between 10 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit, which are both not great for efficiency. So far I’m sitting at 1.57 on efficiency, which is about what my worn stock Pirellis were at. More city driving should give a more accurate representation for me- I don’t typically drive interstates as much as I have been the last couple weeks. For the folks that asked for a picture…
