Debating on gloss or matte PPF for our new R1S that should be delivered next week. But also debating not doing anything given we tend to swap cars every 2-3 years…

Thoughts?
Tough choice. Let me make it tougher and chime in here...
Not sure you knew that but if you are handy, you can actually get full front a lot cheaper. We are fellow R1S owners and make our own cut patterns from scratch, so that they are easy to install with 0 disassembly.
So...

We also have installation service in Concord, CA but that of course adds to the cost.

To give you an idea, here is my full install video of the color wrap... the cut pattern is the same for the gloss/stealth with edge wrapping and similar but a bit faster to do for the edge-to-edge version:

And you can use code GASGONE for 10% off 👍🏻

As for resell value - full vehicle wrap is something you do for OCD (or if off-roading regularly). It doesn't translate much into resell. What does translate though is perfect paint, especially if you kept the interior perfect as well. With that said, if resell value is #1 priority perhaps full front is more than enough.
One more thing to keep in mind - Rivian repairs are somewhat expensive. We've had multiple customers who texted us that they got into a small accident and thanks to the PPF they were able to do pointless dent repair and save the panel, so the PPF paid off. Of course, if you are never in such an accident that doesn't matter.

Is it a leased vehicle? If so, probably do the front, hood and mirrors.

If not, look at your other vehicles and your driving habits. If other vehicles you own or have owned did not suffer issues, then probably don't need it.

I haven't used wax in years. I do have ceramic coating which in my experience, do a better job than wax.
It will be set up as a lease but I am doing that to get the $7500 EV credit. The money factor is 8-9% with excellent credit so I’ll buy it out and convert to a loan at 4.5%.

I have PPF’d my last 10 cars but always dump them after a few years. So it’s really benefiting the next owner. While it does keep the vehicle pristine, it does not ever provide more money at the time of sale. Hence leaning towards leaving alone…

Do nothing. Used THIS on my previous LE Green R1S every month and on my current one. That color is wonderful as-is.

This latest Launch Green has more metallic flake in it, so I would go gloss.
I had my 2026 R1S El Cap wrapped in XPEL Stealth (matte) and I can report that the metallic flecks in the paintwork are still very visible.

Launch Green is one of the colors that looks much better in gloss than satin

Spray on ceramic waxes are complete snake oil scams and not remotely close to ppf. It’s a glorified temporary gloss enhancement, nothing more.
