I just got my SUV back from Califoria Detailing in San Francisco who did a complete PPF wrap with Kavaca for my R1S followed by Ceramic Coating (they not only wrapped the body panels but the black plastic trim, headlights, etc). The ceramic coating is apparrently applied not only the body panels and trim, but also the glass, wheel and brake calipers). It took them a week to complete the job. They do outstanding work. Highly recommended.

Experience with Kavaca vs Expel or 3M at all?

I’m sure PPF is PPF … is PPF; just curious.

Too early to tell about Kavaca as I just got the R1S back yesterday.

My previous experience is with Suntek which was used to wrap my Model Y. It's held up pretty well over 3 years and did it's job protecting the paint during door dings. I didn't use ceramic coat at the time.

I see “RIVIAN” is gone from your door. Did you remove all? Plan to leave off permanently?

I only removed the side badging. I prefer the cleaner look so I won’t be putting it back (personal preference). I did leave the badging on the rear.

I still own the Tesla Model Y. The Tesla was wrapped free hand just like the Rivian but there was no paint correction done, nor ceramic coating afterwards. The PPF has protected the paint from the door dings we have had on the car so it has done its job. I would say that the PPF is not as shiny as it once was (probably because of no ceramic coat). The Rivian was $2000 more but I definitely think that we got our money’s worth with the paint correction and ceramic coating (not to mention that it’s a much bigger car).

If you don’t keep your car at least 5 years then PPF is a waste of money. In California, we get no sales tax credit on trade-ins against new purchases (like I did In NY). This encourages leasing or keeping cars longer. I plan on keeping the Model Y until the wheels fall off and the Rivian at lest 5 years.

The paint correction, PPF and ceramic coat was $8K. (if you don’t PPF the plastic trim it would have been $7K).
