Guide call & PBA signed for R1S... mid-may delivery

Had a wonderful call with my guide, config locked and PBA signed within an hour. Mid-May delivery. Waiting for VIN assignment and requested for factory tour & pickup which is being done every month end itseems. Guide is from Normal and can see the manufacturing area.

Config: R1S Limestone, OC, 21' wheels, field kit, All weather floor mats, compact spare tire

Everyone's big question "Ocean Coast" interior: "No delays otherwise I won't be talking to you now" was my guides answer so....

Camp Kitchen: working on a shuttle system for kitchen on the rear of the SUV. Will be added to Gear Shop s00n ?

Spare wheel: "compact spare tire" can be added but the wheel well does allow a normal wheel to be stored. Asked my guide to check if I can actually get a regular wheel instead of compact tire.

R1S or R1T test drive: asked if I could get a test drive of R1S or a limestone R1T, told him I am close to normal(2hr. Drive) so don't mind driving there, he said will check and get back ?

Interior pics: will be sending some, so patiently waiting

2nd row: seats will be sliding for 3rd row access, will not fold completely for 3rd row access.

User guide: under Legal review. Apparently they cannot deliver any R1S until legal approves the user guide.

Membership: membership will include "No cost" charging at Rivian adventure network or waypoints and discounted costs/fees at others like evgo, chargepoint etc..,

Additional things in future: 2nd & 3rd row screens, camp kitchen, parking assist etc...

This is great info, thank you for sharing. I'm curious about two things that I heard differently from my guide.

1. Are you certain they said a full sized spare could fit in the wheel well? The tires on these things are enormous and I remember seeing very little space in that area for even the compact spare when poking around on the demo model at the bay area event in 2019. This would be fantastic news if so. I was envisioning a hitch mounted solution but the tires are also super heavy, so pulling it off of hitch mount would not be simple.

2. That is a relief that the seats slide. I am hoping my guide had different/old info when she mentioned they do not slide.

Please keep us posted! I'm a 11/27/18 pre-order holder in the bay area but now PBA yet.

I don't understand why some guides are sending the PBA immediately while my guide said it wouldn't be sent until a VIN was assigned. There's no indication of a VIN associated with your PBA, is there?

I was told by CS about 6 months ago that the 2nd row does NOT slide. Really hope this changed!

I recall seeing comments like this, too and thinking to myself how impossible it would be to access the third row without some forward movement from the 2nd row. Could it be CS was confusing two functions- sliding fore/aft to manage legroom vs slide and fwd recline to gain access to the 3rd row?

My Guide said PBA’s are automated and sent once the car is built and matched to an order. Maybe correct, I don’t know.

I’m still waiting for my PBA after locking on 4/4. I’ve seen three whites, two blues, one limestone and one yellow get PBA’s so far. Some with delivery windows later than mine of March/April.

Perhaps LG and Forest Green have more orders, or they’ve not batched yet. No one who can share info, knows. So just gotta be patient until our car is built.

Yes I was very specific and asked him twice and he confirmed but we all know how well these guides are, will ask him for dimensions ?

Waiting for a "diagram" from guide showing how the 2nd row works. Hopefully that will give us Rivians definition of slide or tilt ?

Nope no indication of any VINs in pba, just the intention to buy next available vehicle similar to our config.

I've had the same experience FWIW. Guide said PBA is assigned when the VIN is assigned, not before, so it's a bit disjointed, but hopefully just means there are a batch of vehicles coming out and they'll assign them once they pass some level of initial QC. I'm April/May but expecting something more along the lines of June/July based on timing (6 weeks after PBA is already into June). Really looking forward to the first user reviews to see all of the outstanding questions RE 3rd row access, legroom, etc.

Yep I think so too that they have few batches of vehicles coming up based on which they are getting PBAs done. My guide said that delivery will be mid-may and I just realized that it's 4 weeks away ????????........ ? if that happens ?

All these Guide Assignments and PBA mumbo-jumbo is just taking a page from Disney World ... where you seem to be making progress by entering yet another room when the reality is ... you're still in a queue.

Rivian would be bat-s*** crazy not to have an unveiling of the R1S before their Q1 results on May 11th. So ... at least we have going for us ... which is nice.

I guess that means we won't have the grand reveal until after 5/11 as BS Crazy would be pretty on brand. Would anyone really be suprised if the grand reveal came after they had delivered 75 R1S's to people on this board.
