2022 R1T Launch
Started looking around for issues to potentially bring up as we approach the 60K mile mark. Started listening for potential half-shaft issues after reading a bit here and on Reddit. Somewhere I think someone mentioned listening for the sounds both while moving and by hand manipulating the wheels when jacked up. I took some video of both and wanted to see if what I'm hearing seems normal, or if this is a potential issue. Thanks.
I ended up mentioning the sounds to the Rivian Service Advisor while I was bringing the R1T in for another issue they found on a comprehensive pre-warranty expiration inspection. Took a quick ride around the parking lot and I think they were thinking it would just be a ting washer and lube/tighten things up. In the end I got new hubs and halfshafts on the front. I'm not sure if the rear was checked or not, and now I'm wondering if I should have specifically asked.

The replacement hub parts are HUB BEARING -WHEEL; FR Part# PT00031233-E
The replacement halfshafts are HALFSHAFT - FRT; R1 ORIGIN Part# PT00055489-H

Taking my 2024 in for 3 half shaft replacements later this month, as well as blown struts, and leaking air suspension, and a few other odds and ends.
They just replaced all 4 dampers, and half-shafts on mine. I'm greatful these things have been warrantable items, but I just had my rear dampers replaced in November. I think I'm on my 3rd set of front dampers, 4th set of rear.

Half shafts, I believe 3rd set on the front, 2nd set on the rear.

I asked what the cost was out of warranty for 4 and 4 being done at the same time, and was about 15k cdn/ 11k USD plus tax. I horrifically expected 23-25k cdn so better than I thought. I suppose that would be a worst case once every 2 year expense out of warranty due to the 2 year unlimited mileage parts installed by Rivian warranty.

One of the reasons I am glad I was wrong about the warranty. I thought it just had a 3/36.. I was glad to find out it was a 5/60

As someone who is quickly approaching out of warranty, what should I be doing about half shafts on a DMP? And what should I expect cost wise out of warranty, and how often?
