Harness tap for rearview mirror

Has anyone used this plug and play harness to power a dash cam or radar detector? Seems better than those wire tap kits in Amazon with the pins.

Yeah, have one on a GMC truck and it works great. Takes any error out of trying to get the pin taps just right.

Would love a variant straight to USB-C for the form factor and to match the RJ11 power output. USB A is so limiting, especially for power hungry devices.

Not yet. I spoke with the owner of this company and the current harness only works with gen 1. He is working on a harness for gen 2, which I'm get when available. He said it would be another month or two before it's available.

Maybe, but the cable that runs down the A pillar isn't just for power, it's the connection to the AXM and CAN bus so you wouldn't be able to eliminate it anyway.

It looks probable, but that'd be another long cable to route from the mirror harness all the way down to the passenger footwell. Lukas is working on a power adapter that would tap into the passenger footwell fusebox so there's no need to route any long cables.

I just installed my dashcam w/ this harness. However, the power in always on / continuous. Is there way to turn off the power when the car is off? i don't want to drain the 12v battery.

Gen 1 or Gen 2? This harness is essentially the same as the more commonly used mirror tap. Have not seen anyone (gen 1) say their mirror tap stays on. If yours stay on, I think the only thing you can do is to make sure you turn your radar detector off manually (though the power draw should be very small if left on).
