I run with in all purpose mode at mid height. IMO that would be the most logical height for Rivian to adjust the headlights. What setting is your ride height?

Three times, I have had an unusual issue with the auto high beams. I have auto high beams on, but I use the stalk to override what it is doing in auto for the reasons you mention. Most times, it returned to expected auto operation. But three times in the past 3 months, it has not returned to auto operation, with the high beam staying locked on, and the "A" not appearing in the lower part of the driver display. I go into the vehicle settings screen and auto high beam operation is toggled off. After trying auto-HB for one night, I disabled it. Too wonky. It should only be used on freeways and lonely country roads. In suburban areas and parkways, it was reacting constantly to false positives and effectively flashing others. This feature is not meant or ready to be left on all the time. Additional context, I had headlight set to auto, auto-HB enabled, and it was toggling between LB and HB on its own.

The first time it happened, I figured I did something wrong or perhaps there was a way to toggle the mode from the stalk, such as holding for X seconds or something. I looked at the manual and could not find anything like that. It has happened twice again, and the last time I was able to confirm that auto mode was on and working in the vehicle settings screen, and then it toggled off in the vehicle settings screen when I manually flicked the stalk at some point. Going into the left stalk headlight menu on the driver display still showed AUTO, and I tried selecting different settings in the stalk menu, no change. I had to go into the vehicle settings screen and re-enable Auto headlights. It's either an undocumented obscure feature, or a bug.
To paraphrase the immortal George Carlin...As @UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan noted, that third driver must have been the average idiot.
