So here’s what happened:
I got in my truck to run some errands and the truck said the passenger side gear tunnel door was open.
I got out and looked and it was closed. I got a similar message once for the driver side so I tried to open it using the button next to it but no luck - no noise from the servo trying to release it either.
I get in the truck and try opening it from the center display but no luck there too.
So I get the (not so) bright idea to open the driver side door, crawl thru and use the emergency exit button to open the passenger side door because surely that will work - it’s for emergencies so it must open the door.
Not only did it not work but it caused the warning in this video to show up on the driver display along with a chime that repeats non-stop.
I tried resetting the entire truck and also the displays but the message and chime persist.
I called service yesterday afternoon. They had no other suggestions to try to clear the message and said the truck had to go to the nearest service center to get fixed. Also, because the truck will still drive I have to pay if I want them to take it on a flat bed (didn’t get a cost but it’s an hour’s drive without traffic).
I asked if a service tech could come to me to at least clear the message from the display and she is going to check.
The kicker is that she couldn’t even schedule me to take it to the service center because they were closed for the day and they won’t return until Tuesday, Monday being a holiday.

Anyone have any suggestions for fixing this problem or clearing this message?

So they are shut, but say they are open. I didn't think you cold drive with them " open" so I'm surprised the truck will move in Drive. You could try to check fuses?

inside the gear tunnel, at the door latch (top of door), underneath the plastic cover, there is a molex plug type connection. Slightly pull back the plastic cover to find it and re-seat the connector.

I looked at a fuse schematic and didn’t see anything that looked like it was related to the gear tunnel doors but I may go look at the fuses anyway to see if there’s anything obviously blown.

I disconnected and reconnected the plug to the emergency button but that didn’t clear the message in there driver display.

There's a cable release mechanism in the same spot under the panel. Try pulling it to release the door and re-close after.

Dark-Fx thanks for the advice!
I was able to find it and use it to open the door.

However, the message and chime (once a second) were not cleared.
Still waiting on an appt with the service center. Talked to Vehicle Service today and they are trying to escalate.

Pulling the manual release from inside and opening the stuck tunnel door cleared the alarm for me. Perhaps repeat the process and do a software reset?

I tried that but no luck.
After an initial assessment that I would have to take my truck to the nearest service center (an hour drive), a mobile tech is now coming to me on Friday. I also picked up a free rental car last week.

Have you checked the wiring connecting the button? That was loose for me, and it sold randomly come back even after an SC visit. I took the cover off and played around, found the loose connection, unplugged and replugged. Never happened again since.

Thanks @Riviot but when I saw your message the tech was just a day away so I decided to wait for him.
He was hoping it was just the latch that needed replacing but that wasn’t it. He couldn’t fix it and after troubleshooting it feels it’s in the Rear Zone Controller but said he it needs to go the service center because getting to it isn’t easy and they may need to troubleshoot further. Flatbed is coming Monday to take it.

My truck is now doing the exact same thing you had trouble with, did you get it resolved without shipping your truck to the nearest service center? They are scheduled to pick mine up early next week. ?

She said she got into the truck to run some errands she didn’t get to go.

Unfortunately the mobile tech who came couldn’t fix it and they took it to the nearest service center on a flat bed. The tech suspected the problem was in the “Rear Zone Controller” that controls things like the gear guard tunnel doors, lift gate, and powered tonneau.
Also, with the warning message the truck went into ‘turtle mode’ where speed was limited to something like 15 MPH.
They started working on it on Friday but I haven’t heard back yet.

I got a call on Monday saying my truck was fixed and I picked it up yesterday - all is good with it.
I was having a separate issue with my tailgate (truck said it was open when it wasn't and also it wouldn't open), and they said the passenger side tailgate latch was broken so they replaced it. They replaced a fuse in the wiring on the passenger side of the truck as well and they think the faulty latch blew it -> that's what caused the issue with the gear tunnel door.

@michaelcasto I would try to get a mobile tech to come visit you before making that long trip to the SC. You might have a different root cause and a mobile tech might be able to fix it for you.
