Driving west yesterday along I-10 between San Antonio and El Paso. Strong gusty crosswinds (which is typical this time of year). I was using highway assistance and the gusts, coupled with the corrective action highway assistance induced an oscillation that made the rear passengers carsick. Never had this problem with FSD or adaptive cruise on other cars (sedans). I wonder if the high(er) profile contributed to this particular issue.

By no means trying to minimize your experience or challenge it. My question is, do you think your passengers would have felt better had you steered yourself in Adaptive Cruise Control? Just guessing you might have tried it?

dunno - As the driver, I prefer the adaptive cruise, it reduces my driver's fatigue - however - happy wife, happy life. may do that on the way back.

So Highway Assist (HWA) is Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with auto-steer (lane centering) on pre-mapped roads.

I am asking if you tried doing the steering yourself or if you simply used HWA the entire stretch it was windy.

Trying to determine if the issue was HWA (lane centering) trying to compensate for wind or if it was just so damn windy it really did not matter if you were steering or HWA was?

I don’t think there are any issues with HWA. Not sure how any software can deal with random 15-20mph crosswind gusts
I do hope they have an open backlog item that will let us initiate a lane change via the turn signal.

What suspension and drive settings are you using? If you have the suspension in normal and a soft ride, I could see the truck wallowing around more when side dynamics are added from the winde.

I'd try adjusting the those settings. You may try adjusting the suspension firmer (if you have it soft), lower air ride height, or even try changing to Sport.

My wife and I have independently noticed more bouncing around in the lane after the most recent update. It was like this when I purchased in 2022, but updates have generally corrected this over time. This update seems like a big step back, hopefully something they can correct in the next update.

Good idea. I was set to soft, but I’ll try the other settings on the return leg, if the winds are blowing

I think part of the issue is that Rivian’s Highway Assist is more aggressive/jerky than some other driver-assist systems. Lane changes and lane centering aren’t very smooth.
