(since negative comments online tend to outweigh the positive ones) I would say after my 6 mos of ownership, I really like it! No regrets.
2024 R1T DM, Large, off road package
I was a sports car guy and didn't think an EV was in my future for another 10 years. I went in anxious about range and reliability the most. I was not worried about service. Funny enough, I now find that these things have flipped. Range and reliability have been great. Service is the nagging concern.
There are a few imperfect items on mine; the dash rattle (fixed by mobile), the chattery suspension (I'll deal with it someday) and my paint isn't on par with the last 10 years of European cars I've owned but the actual mechanical performance of the R1, the ease of use with charging (get a home charger!) and just overall feel that you are driving something appropriate for the year 2024, its great! I dig it! I would do it again 100%.
You can read a lot of things online and come up with a long list of "what ifs". If you're the type who really wants everything to be perfect, be prepared. If you're more excited by the idea of something different than the last 100 years of cars and can tolerate some nuances, yes, the R1 is great and legit off road capable. Rivian also seems to be a pretty conscientious company. They just need to triple the number of service centers pronto!
