How many Gen 2 R1s are actually being delivered?

Have you taken delivery of a gen 2 R1?

Please keep us updated if it ends up coming on the date as promised
so this was the message I just got from Rivian this morning for my pickup that was scheduled for tomorrow morning. Not great news considering I sold my other vehicle last…

“Rivian Cleveland reaching out. Unfortunately, we are experiencing a delay on a part to finalize your vehicles pre delivery inspection. As of right now, we will have to move your delivery to next week.

We will reach out if the part arrives earlier to move your delivery up. We do apologize for the delay but we want to ensure your vehicle is held to the highest standard. Please let us know if you have any questions.”

Well that's unfortunate ?. Sounds like something was damaged in transit that needs to be replaced?

Who knows. It’s only a 6hr drive from Chicago to Cleveland. Should have just picked it up.

Delivery in Columbus scheduled for next week, but I'm just going to assume something will happen and the appointment will get blown up last minute.

Rivian called, and it was not damaged in transit. It needed a new tire pressure monitoring system. Part arrives on 7/13, fix on 7/15, pickup on 7/16

There was a green 2025 Gen 2 awaiting customer delivery at the San Diego SC this past weekend.

I purchased mine from the shop on 6/25. I was told it would be delivered to me in Hawaii by the middle of July. As that time approached and I didn't hear anything, I reached out and was told it would now be the middle of August. Shipping from California to Hawaii takes 1 week. I'm not sure how long it takes to ship from Illinois to California but I would think it should also take a week. I don't know what the delay is.
I can't specifically speak to an auto railcar, but I finance Asia bound containers going out of Long Beach. It can take 2 weeks from Chicago/Joliet yard to Long Beach port. Not defending Rivian's constant delays in everything they do though. Right now rail traffic is a nightmare. There just aren't enough sidings and finding a landowner willing to sell 3/8th of a mile of their property to build one is impossible.

I have posted on the issue of the new heat pump for the Gen2 and the very loud noise and NVH in the floor boards and steering wheel. Filmed and sent out to a higher up contact at Rivian corporate who pushed my Gen2 to an earlier appointment. My Gen2 has about 150 miles on it.

Here is what I can report.

—The sounds is 100% unacceptable to me and if you put a quarter on the panel in the frunk, you can watch it vibrate.

—I believe that at least one of the problems is body isolation mounting. They re-designed the frunk (reduced the size) to accommodate the new heat pump and it’s possible that the brackets are bolted into something transmitting vibration thru the chassis or firewall.

—Mine arrived on a flat bed and we took it for about a 2 mile ride—actually my wife drove it. I felt like having already signed the lease paperwork that it I had to accept delivery and I really didn’t notice it while sitting in the back seat that badly. Then, after the SC guy left, I was like —WTF??

As I was the first owner of a Gen2 in my market, I will hope that I am a learning lesson as they figure out what they will do. My biggest hope though is that my unit is just an early defective unit and not a design issue.

—A more senior leader in Rivian corporate did acknowledge it’s a new part for them and was very interested in my video. Almost like, they want several people to hear. They know it’s a big change.

—Right now they will check and validate and see if there is anything that is ‘obvious’ and 'simple'—but, he was honest that sometimes new parts don’t work or, even if they do, a replacement is needed and they may not yet have a replacement, particularly if a re-design is required.

—I was pleased to get three layers of communication on the issue. Rivian corporate, telephone service line, and then SC, moving my appointment from August to next week. I think they even want to know quickly what’s up as my video moved up the chain.

I’ll update on what I learn this week.

I wish everyone could get the same response as you with corporate acknowledgement and response. Hopefully we'll hear back soon if this is "as designed" or if yours is an anomaly. Some people are complaining harshly others seem to have no issue. Either way I'm very curious what the outcome here is. Please keep us posted
