Using my R1S nav it gets me to Yosemite Valley with 1 charge and 16% battery remaining. How do I get back? I understand there is an adventure charger at the Ahwahnee but slow and busy? I use this as a working example of going anywhere that has little or no charge facility. The RIV NAV seems to leave one stranded, what am I missing?

You could add charge at new RAN in Manteca on way there. Haven’t done that trip from sf so don’t know if there’s a more direct route with an EA charger or networks

If your driving down south toward Oakhurst toward Yosemite, I believe there are lots of 3rd party chargers along the way

I don't have an ev yet (R1S pre-order), but am trying to learn also. I was playing around with the ABRP app and adjusted the soc at arrival to 50% (probably a good buffer). it has you stop once...

Okay, sorry for being late to this but I use PlugShare. I think most people that travel do this. With PlugShare I was able to navigate my son on a trip from Portland Oregon to salt lake… in a mini SE with only 95 usable miles in winter.

in PlugShare I see 2 places for EA (West and SW) with 350 Kw

But there are others with up to 62 Kw

Hello - A Better Route Planner (ABRP) is your EV's best friend when planning a road trip. Having planned and successfully taken cross country Tesla road trips, I have already planned out future R1T trips in ABRP, including Yosemite. However, since my start/finish are in southern Cal, your route will be different. Combining ABRP with Plusgshare is always key to my route planning. I signed up for ABRP premium although the free version is a great starting point.

I have used the previously installed Tesla chargers (now Rivian) at the Ahwahnee while staying in the valley. Since there are only 2 of them, your luck and timing must be good to plug in. I was last there in the spring of 2018, and while there was no issue getting a charge, EVs were not as plentiful at that time.

I guess mu issue is how to have enough charge at last charger to get into valley and(back to a charger) If destination could be a waypoint maybe, but seems risky business. Obvious newbie here. I struggle a bit with plugshare, ABRP, EA etc. and Riv nav seems to not support waypoints. Thx for all responses.
