I went from July-Sept to Oct-Dec 22. Not the worst. But if I don't see SOME R1S deliveries by Sept I'm switching to a T.

I was wondering about this… I did not get an email despite being an April/May 2022 delivery window. We have Ocean Coast in our build. If it delays us to 2023 we will 100% change to black despite it not being our preference.

I may have missed it, but appears that no R1S or R1T with OC interior has been given a new delivery window. Anyone? I haven’t received any updated email giving me a new window or telling me it will be in 2023…
I got a guide and signed PBA in April, which now appears to be nothing more than a false start.

CS update today for early window/no update email people. The obligatory salt grain blah blah…

My CS rep was willing to say

…emails would continue to go out over the next tei weeks

…priority still placed on LE deliveries

…the fact I have a guide a very good sign I’d still see a sooner delivery

?
I’ve seen very little to no evidence that they are still prioritizing LE deliveries….

Anyone know anyone who switched from an S to a T and if so, how much earlier their delivery window got?

If Canadians are not getting their R1S because there is no service centers there, what happens if an American R1S/R1T owner travel to Canada and breaks down there? I would be traveling multiple times every year and at this point it looks like for most problems, you have to call Rivian. Does Toronto have a Service Center?
There isn't a single service Centre anywhere in Canada, and no sign of life here either. They have been frustratingly silent here.

The only thing that seems to be open (which I don't know if it's functional), is their corporate office in BC.

Noted. When CS said that I wondered, then recalled the outrage at the one or two posts with people saying they had one of the other package delivered. LE seems to be a feature of many of the delivered signatures- certainly the early R1Ts. YMMV…

Congrats to you.

I think if they still maintain that 90k order volume by end of year they are good for their numbers and they wont change their course.
I’m curious what the preorder number will be when they announce 2nd quarter results.

That 90k at end of Q1 was pre-orders still in the queue with the delivered orders backed out. If that number stays above 90k in the next earnings report that would indicate they are getting orders faster than they are delivering vehicles. That would be an impressive demand given current market conditions.

I am going to give a very unpopular opinion, so buckle up :like:

Rivian needs to scrap or delay the launch of the R1S and just focus on the R1T as their flagship vehicle for the near future, while working on the EDV to fulfil the Amazon commitment.

Rivian will have to focus on the T and forget the S for now.
Counterpoint: the R1S is a more unique offering given current and soon to be released EVs, whereas the R1T already has direct competitors, making the R1S a more valuable model. There are plenty of threads talking about how few 7 seat EVs are even on the horizon, and of those very few if any fit as neatly in the hipster/upper middle class family niche (which is a very big niche). Plus all the people that would prefer an SUV for an adventure vehicle given a better wheelbase and the ability to sleep in the back in a pinch.

I know the R1T got all the press but the R1S has more mainstream appeal, especially as big SUVs have been trending up lately.

If they stick with only a truck they'll run out of customers pretty quickly. They need an SUV, and then either a compact SUV or a sedan. That's what sells.

I’m in July-Aug delivery window, originally. Bummed as of today I have not received an email from Rivian. Will chat with CS in the morning if I don’t get one. God, I wish Rivian would have decent communication with their customers. they just plain suck at it.

Have to agree, I’ve thought since I saw the R1 models that the SUV was going to be a huge hit.

There is also the point that many people like the bigger SUVs for various reasons and given the price of gas currently people looking for one certainly would look electric if available.

Got emails today. So disappointing RIVIAN! What are you doing? Why are others in the same area, getting a delivery date before me when they resv. on 7/2020? Not the right way to treat your long time customers. So frustrated and unhappy with your company. Why don’t you do the right thing and deliver the R1S in the order you received. DO THE RIGHT THING FOR A CHANGE JUST LIKE YOU DID FOR THE PRICE INCREASE!!

I changed to BM this week, still no email update. I too was hoping that would speed things up.
