Using an adapter is not really even an annoyance. I wouldn't wait a year for that.
I would. CCS vehicles will seem pretty outdated. And like I mentioned, if someone can unplug your vehicle like they can with Fords already using the adapter, that's a problem for several reasons. Not to mention the adapters will need to be replaced depending upon usage. I'd rather just have the NACS port instead.

I think you two may be miscommunicating. The adapter "locks" to the vehicle the same way a CCS cable does right now. You can push the button and stop the charge and remove the adapter from the vehicle. There is a mechanism in the adapter that prevents pulling the NACS plug out until the CCS side is unplugged to make it easier on the equipment. The adapter is not "locked" in the sense that it prevents theft.
That's what I've been saying from the beginning. You physically can't pull the charging cable out of a Tesla while it's charging. But non-Tesla vehicles using an adapter, you can easily pull it out.....and steal the damn thing. It's not a great setup if you ask me. That's why Ford people using the adapter now aren't leaving their vehicles unattended while charging.

Why add cost? I personally think they should not have that on the R2.
Roll down rear glass adds far more value than it costs to have it, I'm quite sure. If you ever owned a 4Runner, you'd probably agree. It was by far one of my favorite features on my old 4Runner. I used to drive with all five windows down all the time in the summer.

That sounds like something that can be solved with programming. If the vehicle is locked, it shouldn't unlock the charger(adapter) when the session is ended from outside the vehicle. Same way Tesla locks in their J1772 adapter.

Can you stop the charge at a DCFC by depressing the latch on the charger handle? I'm pretty sure I have tried that and it doesn't depress if the charge is still ongoing (and the actuator is locked in the down position). This is definitely the case for AC charging if the doors are locked, I guess I assumed it was the case for DC as well (and if not, a software update would/should correct that for the sake of adapter security).
yes. It's a fail safe.

I guess we'll know soon, at least if they release the adapters for Rivians soon like they have for Ford.
