I went outside to move my charging cable (just L1) over from my Leaf to my '22 R1T, and realized I was faintly hearing a repeating electronic tone sequence. I then noticed that the truck was already unlocked, and the driver-side taillight was partially illuminated. I got in in the driver seat, realized that none of the screens were on, and that the Hazard button was flashing continuously. Not even the armrest console would open. Pressed the brake, nothing happened... it's tight, won't move, won't trigger the truck to wake up. I tried both soft reset and hard restart button actions, but nothing happened with either attempt.

I got out, walked around it trying all the open-buttons, and none worked... frunk, chargedoor, tailgate, gear tunnel doors, all of them unresponsive. I shot some video of the behavior... then a few minutes later the tone stopped, the flashing Hazard stopped, the single taillight went dark, and the chargepoint door appeared to have opened about a 1/4 inch and got stuck there.

My first guess here is something haywire with the 12v batteries, but unable to open the frunk, I can't even see the area where they are. My second guess is an odd bug with the latest software update, but seems odd to have taken many days to present itself after that last update... I didn't explore the update's features, but did notice all my custom sound EQ settings had reset.

I've opened a service request via the app (which itself shows the truck unlocked, the chargeport door open, offline and last sync'd about 80min ago), which is currently "in review" after the AI prompts really only just asked clarifying questions based on my initial text report.

I don't see anything new on the forum here, so feeling a bit less like it's from the last update.

Has anyone seen this level of unresponsiveness before, as well as that repeating tone? I'll attempt to attach the videos on here as comments.

Most folks report the app's trouble reports get either useless replies, or none at all.

Call (855) RIVIAN-5 right away. The humans at (855) RIVIAN-5 have, over and over, managed our Rivians' glitches expertly.

Best wishes!

I’d try to hook a jump pack to the emergency 12V leads near the rear hitch to see if you can get the frunk open. That way at least you can hook a trickle charger to the 12V to see if that’s the culprit.

Either that or you’ve unlocked this years Rivian Halloween costume… a bricked truck. That should give everyone a fright.

You can open the frunk when the battery is dead. Read the manual to find out how.

Mine did something similar once when I was getting back to my house at like 2% state of charge. I went out to the truck to unload something and the left brake light was just on…. No errors and the truck was charging (it had been plugged in for less than 5 minutes).
I opened a ticket, with a video attached. Two days later my ticket disappeared with no explanation but the problem went away after it charged up.
I had another service center appt the following week (unrelated) and the SC had cleared the ticket.

when you are at a super low state of charge, the truck starts doing things to help you conserve HV power. One of those is turning off the DC to DC converter that normally keeps the 12v pumped up. The brake light hanging on like that is a symptom of under voltage to one of the body controllers.

He said the symptoms get even stranger on the models with 2 batteries up front.

With mine, he said he looked at the logs and could see what was happening remotely when he reviewed the ticket.

My issue definitely can't be low SoC... it was at 89% when I unplugged it three hours earlier to plug up my Leaf.

Based on the SC manager, this is a symptom of an undervoltage on one of the body control modules.

In my case, it was easy to figure out the reason. For you, it could be a failing 12v or something else like a loose wiring harness somewhere. Maybe a bad module.

You should open a ticket.
