Is the R1S shop now empty for you?

A few days ago I checked the shop and there were over 100 available. Today there is one. Is that the same for others? I wonder if they really sold that many in a few days or if they removed them for some reason.

It sounds like Rivian is adjusting inventory for vehicles they can push out before the end of the year. Had you ordered one of the other ones earlier, it likely could have been put on a truck and still make delivery.

If that's what they are doing, I expect it to return to normal in the next couple days.

Yes the R1S shop is suspiciously empty now. I just hope that means it’s getting closer to my vehicle being built. They didn’t have many dual motor performance to begin with anyways.

This usually happens towards the end of the end of the quarter push. Rivian will show only what inventory they can realistically get to the service center while dealing with their end of the quarter push.

Once we wrap up and move onto the new year, you will see the shop return back to regular inventory levels.

I'll echo Midnight's comments. We've seen this before. If inventory suddenly dropped, you likely temporarily lost access to inventory at the factory. Except during end-of-quarter pushes, your R1 Shop inventory will include inventory at your nearest SC (or SCs?) PLUS inventory at the factory which can be shipped anywhere in the country.

At the end of 2Q23 and 3Q23, I saw inventory increase in my R1 Shop. (I watched R1 Shop inventory for months while Rivian delayed production of my R1S with vegan leather dash option.) I'm in central Illinois, so my nearest SC and the factory are (essentially) one and the same.

TLDR: The sudden inventory crash is an end-of-quarter software phenomenon. Don't panic. Be patient. Rivian will "flip the switch" to allow you to see factory inventory again within a week or two (probably not a day or two) after the quarter ends.
