Key card sensor not working

Key card sensor not working. Is anyone else getting this message? I’m just trying to determine whether it’s a software glitch or a hardware issue specific to my R1T gen 2.

Perform hard reset. Make sure you are holding the card to the reader, not tapping (which is incorrect use). If issue persists, submit service request. Beyond this, no one outside of Rivian has remote diagnostics capability.

FYI, every hard reset includes a diagnostics log capture. Mention time and date one is performed, due to fault experienced, in service request… so they know to look for it.

I get the error semi-regularly. Usually if I wait a few seconds it will eventually find the key but also sometimes I have to put my phone down on the charger (also a key) to get the vehicle to turn on. It comes and goes and without any type of rhyme or reason.

I had that error on my R1S earlier in the year. Resets will work if it’s a software issue. Mind was a bad hardware module in the door handle. SC took care of it.

I was able to test for myself. I never really carry the keycard with me, I am always using digital key via phone/watch. I left my phone/watch inside. Door was already unlocked so I placed the card on the center console and I was able to drive. I then locked the door and tried to reenter with the card. It was a no go. Tried the card on the passenger side and it unlocked for me.

I opened a ticked, explained my testing and they got me I. Within a week.
