L2 Adapter Included?

Picked up my R2 on Friday afternoon, and in the center console, to my surprise, was a free L2 adapter. I did not order it with my R2 and I do not live in one of the states where it’s given for “free”.

Anyone else have this same experience?

I had already ordered L2 and L3 adapters from A2Z in anticipation of getting my R2.

That seems like something they should disclose. If you order one explicitly, do you get two? For people in the states where it is free, do they just give you the one they were already going to give you?

This is my first EV, so I needed a home charger and an adapter to use at work. I ended up buying a Tesla mobile connector from FB marketplace for pretty cheap and it came with the J1772 adapter. If I had spent money on an adapter specifically and then gotten one for free anyway, I would be kind of annoyed.

J1772 adapters are very cheap bc they’re simple AC charging. Tesla gives them for free too.

I thought it was included only in certain states which require it by law. I don't think it's standard everywhere.

This is odd to me because they offer it as an add on for what, $50 when you configure? They should absolutely disclose that you’re already getting one with the car. I didn’t see that anywhere prior to taking delivery.

I ordered one as well given all of the “no chargers/adapters included” discussions.

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought J1772 was always included and CARB states could get mobile charger and CCS adapter also for free.

Hasn’t been updated for R2 but says all R1 vehicles get J1772 for free

I have a JuiceBox 40 right now. Planning on keeping that until more info about Rivian’s V2H solution is out.

I also already had a JuiceBox 40 and still do. I put in a 14-50r when we bought our first EV (2012 Leaf) but our first Tesla (2018 Model 3) came with the Mobile charger which is easier for a NACS equipped car since the cord is much smaller and lighter than the JuiceBox one. I still have the JuiceBox even though we no longer use it for our Model Y but it's nice to have a backup as you never know when one may stop working. The Model Y came with the J1772 adapter but not the Mobile charger. Tesla has flipped back and forth on this but when I trade it in on the R2, I plan to keep all adapters and chargers to use with the R2 when needed.

The AI assisstant on rivian.com says this:

For most customers, the J1772 adapter is not included automatically with the R2—you can add it to your order or purchase it separately from the Gear Shop. If you're registering your R2 in a CARB state (like California, New York, or Washington), you can opt in to receive the adapter at no extra cost during your order.

Can anyone else in a non-CARB state that did not order an adapter confirm if they got one? VegasWheezy might have just gotten lucky.

OP lives in Nevada and it is NOT a CARB state. One data point, need more.

Isn’t Nevada a CARB state? If so, the adapter and portable charger should be included for free
