Last minute changes and how it affects delivery

I posted this is Limestone club but may be more appropriate in general section:

Hi all, new to the forum and just had guide contact this morning. I am configured for R1T limestone and 20" AT wheels. I have been wavering on getting the 20" AT dark for some time and hadn't pulled the trigger on the $3500 upgrade yet figuring I would wait and make a decision closer to guide contact. I didn't realize that just changing out wheels there is no guarantee when I will get my truck and will likely change my window. They aren't even able to give me an estimate of how much longer... few weeks vs few months.

Super frustrating as I was leaning AT dark but don't want to get set back months just for the wheels when the 20" AT are pretty nice too and $3500 less.

My question... has anyone made a last minute change (to wheels or other) and how much did this delay your truck?

From Rivian's recent email update:
For preorder holders with a delivery window in 2022, we will be reaching out in late May to gauge your preferences and help further inform our build combinations. If you’re flexible on certain options, you may be able to take delivery sooner. If you love your original configuration and prefer to stick with it, then no action is required on your part — we’ll simply continue to update you on your estimated delivery timing.

I think we will all have opportunities to consider different options as we get closer to our delivery dates. If I were you I would swap into the dark 20s if that's what you want and then wait for a guide to tell you closer to your delivery timeframe whether swapping back to the regulars will speed things up.

Also, go ahead and drop your config info into your signature when you get a moment .

When did you preorder?

I personally have not seen or heard of delay with the various 20" wheels. There have been fewer deliveries of 21" and 22" though. I think you would be safe to change to whatever 20" you want, (and maybe even wouldnt be much delayed by 21/22). You could always wait for your guide contact and speak with them about it though. That might be safest.

If you had 20" AT already configured. Upgrade to dark 20s AT is $1700.

not for launch edition. Upgrade to 20AT is free but no credit toward AT dark.

I was literally just about to change today when my guide texted me and said she had a truck for me. So… I took that as a sign and hoping to take delivery very soon! If I decide I want dark wheels I am going to look into powder coating.

I preordered 11/2019 - day after Thanksgiving

I had similar logic and just posted right when about to change they tell me I have a truck! I couldn’t let it slip through my fingers.
Unfortunately my guide was of limited help. She said it would cause some delay to switch but said she couldn’t give me any info on how long. I couldn’t handle that uncertainty.
