The Lucid Air Configurator is awesome.

I know we’ve all been hankering for real photos on the Rivian configurator, and Lucid’s aren’t real. But Lucid’s configurator lets you fly over and around the vehicle. As you do, the wheels turn and touch points appear, where you can see features in action, like the trunk opening or the back row of seats folding down. (Turn your phone sideways to see the touch points. The fly around feature sometimes takes a moment to load.)

See if you like it. I think it’s awesome.

The one benefit of real photos on Rivian’s Configurator would be to see the paint in real light and get a more accurate sense of Forest Edge inside. I really like being able to float around the vehicle, though, to see all angles. Maybe we’ll get lucky and that will be added at some point.

Lucid’s configurator doesn’t use real pictures. It’s all renderings.

Why does the configurator need real photos when they are available everywhere on the internet? Do any other companies use real photos for a configurator (I'm honestly not sure I can think of one). Lucid also needs the upgraded experience because there is far less natural content out there to get the same experience.

The problem I have with LUCID's configuration is that it only provides the base price and does not provide the prices for the options .
All it does is list some of the items as optional (Dream Drive Pro, Upgraded Audio, Glass Canopy roof), but does not provide what the prices for these options are. It could be a sticker shock when you are ready to confirm them.

Neither does Rivian ;).
The colors and the wheels are simulated. Does not provide an accurate real visualisation.

Sticker shock doesn't exist over $100k....you get what you want and don't ask what it costs.
Why can you not have sticker shock, just because you are buying a 100K vehicle ?
100K is not luxury territory any more.

What if each of these options were to cost, 10 - 15K. Before you know it you are being asked to pay up to 30K in options, without even knowing. Also, for people who like me, who would like to plan major financial purchases, knowing this would help plan this purchase.

Have you tried optioning a Porsche ? A Taycan 4S has a base price of 120K (CAD), by the time you add a few options, the cost quickly balloons to 160K. At least here you know what you are going to pay when you order.

The problem here is not the price, but rather the lack of information about the price of these options. So when you are ready for delivery, LUCID could charge what ever they want. This is deceptive !

I was being somewhat sarcastic. However, clearly Lucid will be setting the price of options when you actually complete an order and you can decide what you want/don't want. They probably don't know themselves what some of them will cost when they eventually get ready to produce the non-Dream editions. Inflation is cray cray these days. There's no guarantee the Rivian prices are the final ones for all we know.
